Track Biography:

The County Down hunt have been in existence since the early 1900’s. We have held our point-to-point meeting at Loughbrickland for over 70 years by kind permission of the Kidd family. Our autumn meeting is run in November each year with our spring fixture taking place in April.

Over the years, Loughbrickland point-to-point has produced many top national hunt stars such as 2003 Aintree Grand national winner Bindaree and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Truckers Tavern.

One of the real attractions of point-to-point racing is the opportunity to get up close and personal with the future stars of the racing world in a relaxed and family friendly environment.

Our point-to-point is located 15 minutes away from the picturesque Slieve Gullion Forest Park which has something for all of the family including woodland trails, stunning views across the Ring of Gullion, Mourne Mountains, Cooley Peninsula and Armagh Drumlins as well as a play park and tour guides of the park.

The Mick Goff team enjoyed success in this division at Tinahely on Sunday and they will look to add to their early season total with CLONDAW HOLLOW. The son of Beat Hollow finished third on debut in the Tralee maiden last May which produced last weekends Pigeons winner Onthefrontfoot. He will likely be strongly fancied here as a result. Donnchadh Doyle has his string firing on all cylinders, but his Winged Leader will need to bounce back from a disappointing run at Ballindenisk, whilst Takingitallin is an interesting mare.

A wide open race where FEAGREEEN NATIVE sets the standard having finished third on his pointing debut at Moira earlier in the month. No Hidden Charges still held claims when slipping-up last Sunday at Tinahely which many entitle him to be the main danger, whilst Boro Melody was in with placed prospects before unshipping at Necarne, and he should benefit for his reappearance at Loughrea a fortnight ago.

Two-time winner JOHNNY SUE returns from a short spell under rules and with form against the likes of Burning Ambition, he could have the class to prevail here. Track recruit Doldrum Bay is the real unknown factor, as he was strongly fancied to collect on his pointing debut at Loughrea earlier in the month, and he certainly won in the manner expected, suggesting any amount of improvement could be forthcoming. Meanwhile, recent Moira scorer Ballyhowne had the likes of the potentially re-opposing Captain Cook and Is This It behind him on that occasion.

With four placed efforts already to her name JASPER BEAR will look get off the mark in this having only found one rival too good at Portrush last Saturday. Wexford raider Yawl Bay may the main danger as she was in the process of running a better race at Loughrea when taken out by a loose horse. The experienced Princess Harriet has placed form from when she was with Colin McBratney, and she may be able to improve on her Moira form, whilst Le Hachette finished third on her pointing debut.

The Sam Curling team have been among the winners in the open division for each of the last two weekends, including with Longhouse Music at Moira two weeks ago. Gabrielleamee is another mare who defeated geldings recently when scoring at Tinahely, whilst both Bloodstream and Corrella Creek are other capable contenders.

It is hard to look past HI MURPHY here as he was only narrowly beaten by a younger horse at Loughanmore in May, in a performance which saw the front pair pull nicely clear of the remainder. Stable companion Bank Man has an alternative entry earlier on the card, but was fancied for his debut last Saturday which would entitle him to claims, whilst Pegase Amour will look to bounce back to the promise of his run at Toomebridge.
