Track Biography:

Kinsale Point to Point along with running a two-day premier race meeting at the end of the point-to-point season also hold an Autumn fixture.

It's a great family day out, the racetrack has superb viewing with food, drink and entertainment.

The first official record of a South Union Foxhounds point-to-point race dates from 1945, when it was held at Warner’s Cross. In 1947, the races moved to Ballinrea near Carrigaline.

In more recent years, the races were held at Cappagh, very close to Kinsale, with winter fixtures at Rochestown.

The races moved to Fort Arthur on the Old Head of Kinsale briefly before alighting on the current site at Farrangalway in 2007.

Kinsale is the gourmet centre of Ireland ! Don’t forget to plan for some seriously good food in one of Kinsale’s award-winning restaurants such as Fishy Fishy, Bastion, The Blue Hazen and Finns Table, to name a few.

There is plenty else to do with activities in Kinsale range from sightseeing and walking to adventure sports, arts and culture. Check out Kinsale.ie for full details of attractions like Charles Fort.

There’s something for everyone – did you know Kinsale people are environmental pioneers, leading the way as a “Transition Town”? Or that Kinsale marks the start of the famous Wild Atlantic Way?

The Kinsale meeting held in the Spring marks the end of the Point-to-Point season, where jockey and trainer championships are decided, and there is great rivalry with horses competing from as far afield as Northern Ireland. Sunday also features family entertainment, with a hound parade, dog show, pony rides and best-dressed competitions, topped off with a concert.

Having finished fourth in a red hot Dawstown maiden, it was no surprise to see DO YOU KNOW WHAT get off the mark in good style at Necarne two weeks ago and she could quickly follow-up here. Stable companion Its All A Lark alongside, Alloverafiver, Cloneen Dream and DJ Sasha are the other last time out maiden winners and alongside Tralee-second Bollman Lady, they would seem the dangers.

BLUE MUNDAY appeared to be back to his best when chasing home an above average looking sort at Tralee last Saturday, to return to the promise that he had shown on debut at Ballynoe. That would leave him close here. Capmonfor and Elton Cross both finished third in recent weeks, whilst Occupied would be capable of making an impression if recapturing his best, however he has been struggling of late.

A line can be drawn through the fourth placing of LIVELY BEAT in Portrush last Saturday, as a breakaway group of two horses raced upwards of 20-lengths clear throughout, ensuring that this daughter of Beat Hollow never had a tough race. She is best judged by her promising debut at Bartlemy. Perennial third has shown form on all sorts of ground and is bound to have improved for her seasonal reappearance at Dromahane and would seem a danger alongside Izzygonnacatcher and Darling Miss, who are others to having finished third in recent weeks.

With the majority of these also entered at Ballingarry on Monday, it is likely the race will cut up between the two fixtures. Should WILCOSDIANA take up this engagement, she would seem the one to beat as she has been a top performer all season long. Her best form may well have been largely on a softer surface, however she did win her maiden on good ground. Longhouse Music and Sliabh Mhuire Lass are the obvious dangers with the pair both winning last time out, whilst Corella Creek will need to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at Necarne.

VALCO DE TOUZAINE may well have to surrender recent race fitness to so many of his potential rivals in this, however the grey gelding won three races last season and thrived at this time of the year 12 months ago. Vinnie Luck, A Decent Excuse and Eddies Miracle all have somewhat disappointing defeats to step-up from, whereas in contrast Drawn N Drank enters the race in top form having won twice in successive weekends. Art Of Logistics and Samanntom are others to consider.

The lightly raced OVERBURY PRINCE has finished second in each of his last five outings between the flags stretching all the way back to 2012. Whilst he has been beaten at short odds in three of them, this would seem an ideal opportunity for him to overturn that trend. The locally trained pair of Touch Of Light and Beet Topper have shown promise in the past, with the former still going well at Dromahane on his latest outing when coming down at the fourth-last. He could be the big danger.
