Track Biography:
Since 1945 Ballynoe has been noted for its well-staged and successful point-to-point meetings. The current racecourse in the townlands of Garryanne & Killavorilla has been in use since 1983. 1987 saw the introduction of the Waterford Co-Op Gain Final, now better known as the Gain Mares Final, and has been going from strength to strength ever since.
The 2018 running sees the continuation of the Gain Mares Bonus of €3000 presented to the winning owner by Gain Horsefeeds & Ballynoe Point to Point Committee. An always exciting finale to a thrilling series of mares’ races as any mare, a maiden at the beginning of the season, who places 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th, at any point to point in Ireland qualifies to enter the Gain Mares Final.
2018 also sees the introduction of an €1000 bonus being added to the 5yo & Upwards Mares Maiden, kindly sponsored by the O’Keeffe family in memory of their father, the late James O’Keeffe, one of the original members of Ballynoe Point to Point Committee in 1945.
A good galloping course with an extensive view for the spectators. A right-handed circuit of just over a mile. The Ballynoe fixture typically falls on the first Sunday of April except when that weekend is Easter weekend, and in recent years has generally moved to March 17th due to the congestion in the Cork Waterford Point to Point Circuit.
Previous noted winners on the track include, My Murphy who won his maiden in Ballynoe in 2011, and went on to win the Thyestes Chase in Gowran Park in 2016. Also Carter Mckay won his maiden in 2016, and went on to be favourite for the Champion Bumper in Cheltenham 2017.
How To Get There
Ideally situated 2 Miles from Ballynoe Village & 2 Miles from Conna Village, always well sign posted.
By Road:
From Fermoy: Take N72 towards Tallow, and follow the signposts for Conna, racecourse will be signposted along the way.
From Cork: Take R639 turning off before Rathcormac for Tallow R628 to Aghern, signposted from there.
From Waterford: Take N25 to Dungarvan, N72 to Lismore to Tallow town up from bridge then R628 for Conna to Aghern. Signposted from Conna.
By Air:
Cork Airport is only 40 minute from the Ballynoe point-to-point course.
Dublin airport is 2 hours & 30 minutes away with motorway road links from both airports.

MOMUS showed enough on debut when finishing fourth behind fellow Gigginstown-owned runner Felix Desjy at Dromahane recently, to suggest he is up to winning a similar event. Trainer Pat Doyle has been in good form of late and given natural improvement, he is the one to be with. Overworkdunderpaid has done little wrong in two starts for Colin Bowe and if lining up here, he is likely to run another promising race. Shannon Bridge travelled really well on debut before tiring late on and it would be no surprise to see him improve enough to play a hand here.

ROYAL RENDEZVOUS looks the most likely winner here having caught the eye last time out behind recent Clonmel winner De Rasher Counter. Trained by Virginia Considine, the Kings Theatre gelding had the race at his mercy last time out at Borris, unfortunately coming down at the final fence. A reproduction of that effort should see him tough to beat here. Future Boy for Liam Kenny improved to finish second when last seen and is likely to improve again with that behind him. His Story is another to consider having improved with each run since falling on debut.

The Daniel Murphy-trained TROLL DOUDAIRIES has been running to a consistent level since moving to point-to-points and was unlucky to unseat at the final fence when fighting out a finish at Kilworth recently. A reproduction of that effort from the 10-year-old should see him go close. Insufficient Funds was in the process of running a good race at Durrow last time out when making a bad mistake late on and with a clean round of jumping he should go close. Rwegoinhigh is another to consider for Timothy Townend.

BLOODSTREAM for John Murphy goes in search of a valuable bonus as she looks to bring up of a hat-trick of wins here following two impressive successes at Boulta and Ballyvodock recently. The Scorpion mare still looks to be on the upgrade and is sure to play a leading role here. Lady Jameson has not been seen since winning in October but she looked good on that occasion and having been freshened up, she is likely to go well. My Old Gold was a 10-length winner at Liscarroll last weekend and if lining up here she could give the selection most to think about.
