Track Biography:

Formed in November 1996, the Premier Harriers began running a point-to-point at Horse & Jockey in 2002, and as the name suggests, the surrounding area in the heart of Tipperary is deeply entrenched in the horse racing community.

Our annual point-to-point typically takes place on the Sunday before the Cheltenham Festival, and it is the perfect way to warm up for the Olympics of National Hunt racing. We have been blessed to have seen many future stars begin their journey to the top of the racing sport.

War of Attrition, Gold Cup hero in 2006, begun his racing career between the flags at our point-to-point in 2003. Seabass, who guided Katie Walsh to the highest placed finish for a lady rider in 2012 Aintree Grand National, won his maiden at our 2007 race meeting, whilst Minella Roccco, who finished second in the 2017 Cheltenham Gold Cup, won his maiden here in 2014. Just four days after which he was sold for £260,000 at the Cheltenham Festival Sales.

That is one of the real attractions of our point-to-point. It gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with the future stars of the racing world in a relaxed and family friendly environment.

Put your wellies on and come to the picturesque Premier county to enjoy a day of fantastic horse racing !

CLONDAWS ANWSER was running a big race on his debut at Cragmore before departing at the penultimate fence whilst sitting in second at the time. The extra half-a-mile should suit and he would look the clear form choice. Overworkdunderpaid, Templepark and Balakani all finished third on their debuts, with the former particularly unlucky to have made a race ending mistake at a crucial point at Borris House recently. The market will give an indication as to what can be expected from the newcomers.

Tom Keating would look to have a strong hand in this contest with whichever of his two potential runners he chooses to put forward, as both INSUFFICIENT FUNDS and Jamies Charm would have the pick of the form in the book. The former was disappointing on his stable debut, however prior to that, he had posted two placed efforts which would see him go close in a race of this nature. Stable companion Jamies Charm would have gone close on her debut at Lisronagh but for coming to grief at the final fence and a bold show can be expected from her.

CAPTAIN CJ defeated his stable companion and subsequent Armagh winner Drimsree Lad by a wide-margin at Oldtown last month on his first start for the in-form Dermot McLoughlin yard and he sets the bench mark for this on that basis. Debut winner Hugo N Taz could be the main danger for Tom Keating, whilst Jack Devine, Rocking DJ and Royal Haslar are others to consider.

FENNOS STORM dominated a small field open contest at Lismore last Sunday and he could well double-up in open company and record his fourth straight open success here as this appears to be a very open contest. Track recruit Red Devil Boys won four races under rules for Bloomfields were he was a 137-rated hurdler and he would be interesting on his return from a long lay-off.

Holding multiple entries right across the weekend, WHAT ANOTHER YEAR and Minella Mischief, could both hold leading chances if taking up this engagement having both shown plenty of ability in each of their two starts to date. Must Havea Flutter stepped-up to take second on his most recent competitive outing and they may well leave him as next best.

RULE THE OCEAN is another leading contender on the card to hold alternative entries elsewhere, but if running here, she could well be the one to beat owing to her second-placed finish at Bellharbour last month. Cloneen Dream and Aines Choice, who both finished third on their latest outings, are likely the chief dangers, whilst Gortangirl is another who cannot be discounted.
