Track Biography:

Quakerstown Point-to-Point is run under the auspices of the Co Clare Hunt. The track is based at Quakerstown in Boston, Co Clare and is set against the backdrop of the majestic Burren.

Quakerstown has proved to be an excellent source of young talent in recent years with Cheltenham Festival Grade 1 winner, Champagne Fever starting his career with a win at this meeting in 2011.

Another exciting young talent to come from this meeting was Bacardys who went on to win the Grade 2 bumper at Aintree and the Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle in Leopardstown in 2017.

The 2016 meeting also saw the exciting Next Destination land the four year old maiden and he is now a multiple Graded winner over hurdles including a Grade 1 at Naas.

Is there a dress code for point-to-points?

There is no standard dress code for point to points but we would advise anyone attending the races to dress warmly and to be prepared for evertything that the Irish weather can throw at them. It is advisable to have appropriate footwear and outer wear for wet conditions. There is no harm is being stylish at the same time!

Dogs are encouraged to attend the point to point especially as there is a dog show which takes place on the day. It is important to note that ALL dogs attending the Point to Point are requested to be kept on a lead at ALL times. The Dog Show has an entry fee of ?3 per class and prizes and rosettes for the winners.

We welcome picnics but we also offer a number of on-course catering options for those who would rather not bring their own food. We ask that those who decide to picnic remember to collect all of their rubbish after them especially as the Burren is a designated area of natural beauty and it is important to maintain that.

There are a number of free activities available on course during the Point to Point to entertain the younger members of the family which include: ? Bouncy castle ? Inflatable Obstacle Course ? Face Painting ? Dog Show ? Football Skills Zone ? Pony Rides Inflatable Obstacle Course Face Painting Dog Show Football Skills Zone Pony Rides

There is no ATM on course and we would advise anyone planning to attend to stop in one of the main towns en route to the racetrack.

Amenities

As this meeting is a very important part of the local community, extra effort has been made by the committee to enhance the enjoyment of the occasion for all the family. The day promises to be a wonderful day of racing and entertainment for everyone.

This year it will also feature a Jive dancing session with Tom Jive, which will encourage people to show off their dancing skills and win some fantastic spot prizes.

There is lots of competition in the style stakes with amazing prizes to be won by all the family. There were plenty of positives to take out of the debut performance that SEREINE DANNAIN produced to finish third at Umma House last month. It looked a competitive heat, ensuring she should be well up to going close here. Crystal Evening also has a third-place finish to her name following her debut in a steadily-run Curraghmore maiden, whilst the grey Nivarcia was still in front when she fell three-out at Loughanmore.

KARTEMPS caught the eye when making his debut in Tattersalls. Travelling strongly to the second-last fence, he was only beaten two and a half lengths, and is a close relation to the five-time Grade 1 winner Fact To File, whom his handler Donnchadh Doyle saddled to success in Clare back in 2022. It would be worth noting if leading northern handler Ger Quinn brought Make It Happen from his Broughshane base after he finished third at Castletown-Geoghegan in the spring, whilst Signoffonthat also finished third on debut and is another horse for the shortlist.

A E72,000 purchase from the Arkle Sale in 2024, KARTUJANO may have been a beaten odds-on favourite at Peppards Castle recently, but with that debut effort under his belt, the French-bred son of Goliath Du Berlais could be the one to side with in this. Governor Max only went down by a neck on his debut at Umma House, and should not be too far away once again, whilst In Around Thehouse, and the Tattersalls first-fence casualty, Presidential Order, are others that cannot be discounted.

TAKE SOME MORE has changed stables since posting two promising efforts last season, including at Umma House last year when she looked booked for success only to unseat at the last. That would look to be the strongest form ahead of this. Amaretto Sour posted her best effort to date when second at Peppards Castle last time out which bodes well ahead of her claims here, whilst La Hulotte cost her connections E65,000 in France and she could take a step forward from her Necarne debut.

WONDERWALL has made a winning start to both of his two previous campaigns with Sam Curling, and he will be expected to preserve an unbeaten record in point-to-points with a fifth success in the sphere here. Magic Sadler won this race 12 months ago when defeating a former Grade 1 winner in the process, and has to be respected, whilst Journey With Me showed what he is still capable of when the former Grade 2 winner defeated Asian Master in a Hunter Chase at Cork last Easter.

MATTER OF OPINION could be turned out quickly after finishing third in Damma House just six days earlier, but the 89-rated hurdler could still be too strong for these. Glendine Billy is the obvious danger if her could repeat his Toome effort, whilst Illaunmore Rabbit has made the frame in the past.
