There were plenty of positives to take out of the debut performance that SEREINE D?ANNAIN produced to finish third at Umma House last month. It looked a competitive heat, ensuring she should be well up to going close here. Crystal Evening also has a third-place finish to her name following her debut in a steadily-run Curraghmore maiden, whilst You Found Yours was a short-priced favourite for her debut at Rathcannon in the spring, and that market confidence could be worth noting.

KARTEMPS caught the eye when making his debut in Tattersalls. Travelling strongly to the second-last fence, he was only beaten two and a half lengths, and is a close relation to the five-time Grade 1 winner Fact To File, who also started his career with Donnchadh Doyle. Northern raiders Make It Happen and Divinator would have to be feared if making the long trip from their respective bases, whilst Signoffonthat finished third despite making a mistake two-out in Ballindenisk and is another to consider.

There is not a huge amount of previous form to go on, which does not make this an easy puzzle to solve, and so it may be worth taking a chance on SANDVALLEYPARK. She was sent off as an even-money favourite for her debut in Quakerstown in the spring, and whilst beaten 24 lengths, she was not given a hard time when beaten from two-out. La Hulotte cost her connections E65,000 in France, and could step forward from her Necarne debut, whilst Miss Lestrange has the recent race fitness edge, having finished fourth in Curraghmore two weeks ago, a race which produced a wide-margin winner last weekend.

KARTUJANO was sent off as an odds-on favourite for his debut in Peppards Castle, recently having cost E72,000 at the store sales, and it would be no surprise to see him go one place better with that initial effort under his belt. He is one of three horses entered in this that finished second on their debuts, with Governor Max and Barna also going close, whilst the bumper placed In Around Thehouse fared respectably on his return to this sphere in Curraghmore.

WONDERWALL successfully kickstarted his season in this race 12 months ago, and he would have to be fancied to repeat the feat once again if coming here instead of taking up his alternative engagement at Quakerstown on Saturday. Ryehill is another talented hunter chaser, and he has finished second on both previous visits here, whilst Carnfunnock, the former Cork National winner Lonesome Boatman, and Monbeg Park, a winner in Curraghmore two weeks ago, add further depth to this.

Alex Ott saddled the winner of this race 12 months ago, and he should repeat the feat with BARNA. The five-year-old finished a very creditable second when making his debut in a messy Loughrea maiden four weeks ago, and that should be the form to follow. Northanger Abbey failed to make much of an impression under rules for Philip Hobbs and Johnson White last season, but he did finish second twice for Colin Bowe, and could be interesting down in grade on his first start for new connections, whilst Care To Differ ran respectably in Lisronagh last weekend.
