Track Biography:

The records show The Fermanagh Harriers Point to Point Steeplechases began an annual fixture as far back as 1905, when the races were held at Dunbar outside Enniskillen. This is the location of our annual Boxing Day Hunt today!

Over the years the venue has changed once or twice but it has been held at the current location, Necarne Castle, since 1999.

Necarne Castle is located adjacent to the town of Irvinestown and it is with the kind permission of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council thet we have been able to avail of this excellent venue.

Traditionally our Two-day meeting takes place Early-Mid May, which normally leads to some added excitement as various riders are usually vieing for the jockeys championship at this closing stage of the season.

Course preparation and the running of the point to point is all done on a voluntary basis by the members of the Hunt

It is hard to look beyond WILD SIDE OF LIFE after he finished third in a strong-looking Loughanmore maiden last month on his debut. That sets the standard for this. Coolmeen Park had travelled strongly on his debut at Portrush before he was unable to go with the principals and it may be that we see an improved display from the well-bred E140,000 Walk In The Park gelding, whilst the newcomers in this include a son of the Grade 1 Cheltenham Festival winner Glens Melody in Glens Sensation who could be one to note.

GARCON DARGENT had failed to back up his fine second to the subsequent maiden hurdle winner Watch House Cross on his debut before bouncing back in a big-field Dromahane maiden on the final weekend of last season. That would look to leave him as the one to beat ahead of Ballylinch. His opening efforts have been blighted by jumping errors and that was still evident on his return for a new yard at Portrush, but he did well to finish third and can go close with a clean round for an in-form stable.

KAYF HOPE bypassed a couple of potential engagements last weekend and that decision could be rewarded with a nice opportunity here for the Kayf Tara mare that gave it a good go to overhaul the all-the-way leader Hashtag Boum at Tattersalls last month. She was only beaten two lengths by a smart type and should go one better here at the expense of Elusive Mae. She lost all chance in Tinahely with a terrible final fence blunder whilst very much involved and leads the dangers alongside Mandilou and Maska Du Morvan.

The David Christie horses have been the horses to follow in this division in recent weeks and he has an interesting pair of stable newcomers here in Global Assembly and MARRONSTOWN. The latter won well at Farmacaffley on his debut when with Stuart Crawford and could provide a local success in this. Grain De Folie is the obvious danger after his runaway maiden victory at Loughbrickland last month and he is respected.

Former Grade 1 winner The Storyteller was pushed all the way by Its On The Line on his debut in this sphere at Ballycrystal last month. The well-beaten Fort Worth Texas franked the form of that race when running in Lisronagh last week and he could double up here. Dylrow is on the comeback trail following a year on the sidelines and has a top hunter chase victory to his name and so should not be swiftly discarded, whilst Everything Now put up some decent runs before going hunter chasing and would have place claims.

SIZING DIAMOND made good late ground on his debut at Farmacaffley back in February in what looked a decent older maiden. It has since produced three subsequent winners, and this looks like a nice opportunity for him to add to that list of subsequent winners. The 85-rated hurdler Captain Cal did show some promise before pulling-up late at Loughbrickland on his return to the pointing fields which may leave him as the danger ahead of Sizing Joshua.
