Track Biography:

Point-to-Point racing has a long and rich history at the scenic location of Fairwood Park, Tinahely, since 1989. Fairwood Park also plays host to the Tinahely Agricultural Show each summer which is one of Ireland's longest running agricultural show.

Jamie Codd, who is the second winning-most point-to-point rider in the history of the sport became the first modern day rider to ride all six winners on the one card at Tinahely in October 2011.

Previous track winners to have won at Tinahely include former Grade One winner Fundamentalist and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up On His Own.

Tinahely is situated in the heart of the Wicklow countryside, the garden of Ireland. Located just an hour and half from the bustle of Dublin city, Tinahely is a pretty village in south west Wicklow that offers a variety of walking opportunities and a gateway to the beautiful Irish landscape.

PAINTED WOLF may have been a beaten favourite in each of his two outings to date however he has a progressive profile and was holding strong chances at Castletown-Geoghegan recently only to be outjumped at the final fence which sealed his defeat. He certainly sets the benchmark here and is close to an opening victory. Of the newcomers, Coolmeen Park come here with a notable price tag of E140,000 from the store sales and is well-bred out of a sister to Rock On Ruby.

This has a very open look to it and it may be worth siding with MASKA DU MORVAN. She represents a stable that has enjoyed a strong start to the season, and she took a step forward when re-appearing at Toomebridge a fortnight ago, which crucially could give her the fitness edge of a number of her rivals. Stopherandgo posted three very consistent performances last spring and is entitled to have improved since, whilst Dunail West is another that is open for further improvement.

JOHN THE DIVA has not been seen since coming down at the last in Ballyvodock back at the beginning of the year, and whilst it was not his best effort to date, it was arguably one of the strongest races in the age group last season and he would look to set the benchmark. Shantou Moon was in the process of running a career best at Castletown-Geoghegan prior to a final fence mishap and is one for the shortlist alongside Old Style Humor.

Just two of the eight entries in this race for previous winners have actually won a maiden, but it may actually be those maidens who have the most to offer, with MASKA DU MARVAN entering the race with fitness assured having finished second at Toomebridge on the opening day of the season. Fellow maidens Chatshow Host and Elusive Mae are the pick of the dangers on their respective first outings of the new campaign.

CASTLEBAWN WEST was a horse with National aspirations after he beat the subsequent Aintree National hero Minella Times in the 2020 Paddy Power Chase when with Willie Mullins. Whilst not seen since then, his new trainer Colin McBratney has previous with horses from the Closutton team. There will be as much interest in how Samcro fairs on his return to the pointing fields after loosing his way on the track of late. Both horses hold alternative options at Portrush on Saturday, which may leave Visioman and previous course winner Visioman as leading contenders.

KYLER KANE was catching the eye at Castletown-Geoghegan on the opening weekend of the season before exiting four-out, and he could gain quick compensation here at the expense of Le Mieux who also came a cropper at the Westmeath venue and does hold an easier alternative entry in Portrush. Gouazec is a solid type who has been placed on each of the last two weekends, Mick Mixy faired creditably on his first start for a new stable and has race fitness on his side, whilst Valley Breeze and You No Me Toou Well are other horses that have changed stables of late.
