Track Biography:

Dawstown point-to-point is traditionally held on the Monday of the May long weekend. We run the event with the kind permission of the Muskerry Hunt,and the land owners Mr John Lynch.

The present location in Birch Hill has been our home for last 15 Years. Prior to this we were situated in Dawstown for approximately 12 years. Our point-to-point has been held every year without fail with over 25 Years.

There has been many horses that have ran in Dawstown over the years. Second in thia years Irish National, Isleofhopeanddreams was second at Dawstown on debut when under the care of Roisin Hickey. Shanahans Turn's kicked off his career with a win as a five-year-old in 2013 and has seen gone on to win the 2015

A day out at Dawstown point-to-point is a perfect excuse to get out into the Irish countryside. Our race track is easily accessible with a 1 way system in operation before and during the race meeting.
We are situated just of the M20 Motorway, situated between Blarney and Grenagh.

We attract runners from all over the East Coast  in addition to the South and from the West and Mid West.
Experienced horse men and jockeys would rate our track as a very good race track with a good finishing straight.

By Road

From Mallow/Limerick - Travel on N20, follow directional signs at Rathduff, and turn off to right.

From Cork City/Waterford/Wexford/Dublin - travel on N20, turn off to left at Waterloo Junction, and follow directional signs to race field.

There will be signposts for the track also.

By Air

We are situated approximately 30 minutes from Cork Airport.

Facilities

One of the real attractions of point-to-point racing is the opportunity to get up close and personal with future stars of Irish horse racing in a relaxed and family friendly environment.

We provide Big Screen facilities, with seating for those who wish not to go to the finish line.

The extensive free parking provides an ideal spot to enjoy a picnic while you enjoy the racing with a brilliant view of the whole track meaning you are never too far from the action.

Disabled parking and toilets are provided at the track which allows all race goers to enjoy their days racing.

In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

Food

Our outside food caterers supply a variety of tasty hot foods such as burgers, sausages and chips.

If you would like to satisfy your sweet tooth we have a sweet and chocolate stand that sells a selection of delicious goodies.

Alternatively, why not come along early and enjoy a picnic before the action gets under way or take a break midway through the day to refuel from the boot of your car.

Our extensive car park is the perfect location to relish the atmosphere of the races whilst entertaining friends and family.

Race goers can purchase teas, coffees, juices and soft drinks from our catering provider.

Is there a dress code for point-to-points?

We do not have a dress code for our point-to-point, however please ensure to dress appropiately as it is early May.

Yes, absolutely ! Please feel free to bring your dog, just ensure to keep them on a lead at all times.

Yes, of course, bring your own food and there is ample room for ample room for a picnic.

Yes, we have full complimentary kids entertainment available all day.

No, unfortunately we do not have an ATM on course. However, the nearby village of Blarney has two ATM machines.

Our location is visually very attractive and you can see for miles in all directions.

In addition to a number of bookies available to take bets for the races on track they are als o able to take bets for Irish and or UK races.
We provide Big Screen facilities, with seating for those who wish not to go to the finish line.

We have a secure area for children where free of charge they can enjoy bouncy castles, climbing walls and numerous other free event.

With no previous placed form to offer in this, it is a race which has a wide-open look to it. Of those with experience RAYNI MAKER will certainly be race fit as he only made his debut last Sunday at Fairyhouse, a race in which he was only beaten eight lengths. Private Ryan still held claims when exiting on his debut at the same Co. Meath venue and could be expected to step forward, with similar improvement expected from Quest For Victory after he finished fifth at Tipperary on debut.

PEERLESS BEAUTY was quite an eye-catcher when she finished a very encouraging third at Tipperary recently to an impressive mare and it would certainly not be a surprise to see her step forward and take this. That same card saw Susie Miller and Endless Escape finish second and third respectively, so if all three were to appear here there may not be a great deal separating them. The improving Craan Run could be best of the remainder.

SALAMANCA BAY had taken a significant step forward from his Punchestown debut in February as he looked set to collect on his first outing over obstacles at Tipperary before cruelly coming down at the final fence whilst holding the upperhand. The final fence also proved to be the undoing of Ibbenburen when we last saw him at Fairyhouse although he was not quite as unfortunate as Salamanca Bay, having appeared to be held by the eventual winner on that occasion, whilst Earth Furies cannot be discounted despite some disappointing efforts under rules.
