Track Biography:

The Mid-Antrim Hunt was formally set up in the 1870’s as a harrier pack, although it was in existence for at least a hundred years before that. It was believed to have had its first official meeting in The Thatch Pub in Broughshane in 1875.

The Mid Antrim point-to-point Course is just outside Moneyglass very close to Toomebridge. Toome or Toomebridge (from Irish: Tuaim, meaning "tumulus"), is a small village and townland on the northwest corner of Lough Neagh in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Moneyglass was at one time home to Malachy McCourt and his family who was the father of Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes, a winner of The Pulitzer Prize, the NBCC Award, The LA Times Award and the Royal Society of Literature Award.

Champion National Hunt jockey and 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner, Tony McCoy, who received an OBE in 2010, was born in Moneyglass.

Another sports star reared in Moneyglass was world famous Rugby Union player Willie John McBride who capped for Ireland on 63 occasions which includes 12 times as Captain.

The Denis Murphy horses have been running particularly well of late and therefore MYSTIC MAN has a likeable profile for this after he kept on to take third at Tipperary last month in a race which saw the front pair slip the field quite early in the back straight. Rayni Maker was only beaten four lengths in a slowly run Fairyhouse contest on his debut whilst Mayhebelucky and Card Dealer are others to have hinted at promise on their respective introductions.

Having chased home the now two-time hurdle winner Up For Parol on his debut at Damma House back in November, GIT MAKER has gone on to finish placed in his two subsequent outings to ensure he sets a decent standard in this. All three of those efforts have come on much softer conditions and it will be interesting to see how he fares here. Coolvalla and Futhermoore have both run well in the past but were not at their best most recently, with Bearhill having run respectably in a Hexham bumper prior to his early departure at Fairyhouse recently, whilst Valirock is one that is open to improvement from his debut.

LOVE ACTUALLY offered a good deal of promise on her debut in Tipperary when finishing fourth in what looked a good maiden last month. Peerless Beauty did let the form down at Dawstown on Monday, but this daughter of Shirocco would still look the leading contender for this. Luck Of The Duck failed to back up her Cork effort when disappointing at Tipperary and needs to bounce back, whilst All Loved Up and Justwest are others that have to be respected on the best of their efforts to date.

DYLROW has been keeping the highest of company in Hunter Chase grade of late and he ran very respectably at Punchestown in the Champion Hunter Chase last week when fourth to Bob And Co. If able to run to that form despite the relatively quick turnaround he would look the one to beat as he is one from one in open company. His stable companion Eddies Miracle is the reigning champion pointer but has been unable to get his head in front this term, which may leave the likes of Ulster National-fourth Er Dancer who continues his progression when winning at Lisronagh on Saturday and Poli Roi as the biggest threats.

ASK DMan bypassed some potential engagements recently but if appearing here he could be tough to beat following his impressive success at Loughbrickland back in November. Mortlach won well at Dromahane last Sunday and certainly comes here race-fit. Given that he twice finished placed in bumpers when with Paul Nicholls he has to be respected, whilst Dento Des Obeaux, Duty Calls and Tareeshar have been plying their trade in Hunter Chase company and can get involved in this.
