Track Biography:
The firsts set of National Hunt Committee rules were published in 1889 and Kilkenny Hunt with its long illustrious history of holding point-to-point meets can trace its first meeting back to then. Point-to-point meetings were held under the master ship of Ikey Bell at Lacken, near Bonnettstown in 1909 and from 1914 meetings were at Bishopslough.
Thereafter meetings continued to circulate around the country, 1926 in Ballyfacey, 1927 Rahelty, 1948 Stonecarthy, 1949-1959 Wollengrange, Gowran 1960-1989. From there the point-to-point moved to Brambelstown, Kilbline, Grennan and then to its current location in Damma House.
We hold two meetings during the season, one in November and one in May. Our tracks over the years have seen many winners go on to establish themselves amongst the elite of the racing world, dual Welsh National winner Mountainous and Tranquil Sea to name but a few.

How To Get There

Directions From Dublin:
Take M7 southbound. Merge onto M9 sign-posted for Waterford/Kilkenny/Kilcullen. At junction 8 take the N10, exit to Kilkenny. Continue on N9 for five kilometres. For the next six roundabouts follow signs for N10 at the seventh roundabout continue straight to stay on N76, straight through next roundabout. At the next roundabout take second exit onto Callan Rd/R909, then take first exit at next roundabout onto Circular Road. Continue straight through following roundabout, then take a left onto Circular Road/R695 continue for four kilometres. The point-to-point will be well sign posted from here.

Our free parking is located just a short distance from the track which ensures race goers that everything is extremely assessable for them for their days racing.
We can also provide disabled parking on the day if racegoers inform one of our parking stewards on their way into the point-to-point.
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

Our outside catering vendor has a variety of catering options from burgers and rolls to different chip combinations.
At our Spring fixture we have an ice-cream van in attendance.

Race goers can purchase teas, coffees and soft drinks from our outside catering outlet and also from our committee member’s tent.
No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to wear warm coats, caps and good footwear.
Dogs are very welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times.
Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics or refreshments.
At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop in the nearby town of Thomastown on your way to the races.

Set amongst the beautiful Kilkenny countryside.
The location of the parade ring, bookies, finish line and services give a pleasant race day experience close to the action.
Our point-to-point is located only minutes from from the city of Kilkenny which has an abundance of pubs and restaurants as well as plenty of popular tourist attractions such as Kilkenny castle or the Smithwicks experience.
There is also a choice of some beautiful golf courses in the surrounding area such as Mount Juliet or Lyrath Estate.

The Ellen Doyle yard enjoyed a Loughanmore double last Saturday and that good form could be continued into this with GAMIN DOUX, as the French-bred came up against a very smart looking winner in Glengouly when third on his debut at Loughrea. He can be expected to step-up from that. Onehundredpercent is an obvious alternative as he looked to be holding strong place claims when falling at the final fence in Ballyingarry and his trainer Cormac Farrell saddled a Bumper winner at Wexford earlier in the week, whilst Marias Lad and The Cool Dude are others to have shown potential.

This fixture proved to be a luckless one for Patrick Turley when Double Smart was brought down at the last by a loose horse in the finale, and this year he seeks compensation with a horse that a similar misfortune with a loose horse recently, with LECALE LASS having been taken out at Moira when looking the likely winner. She should make amends here. Mad About Sally would look the obvious alternative as she looks to complete the sequence having finished placed twice already this season, whilst Darcys Hill and Gallopongray are others with place claims.

PAY THE PIPER was withdrawn at Ballycrystal last Saturday but could return here where he would have to be strongly fancied following his early efforts last term where he went close at both Ballyvodock and Nenagh in February. Coothill has not recaptured the early promise of his fine third at Turtulla 12 months ago with a similar comment applying to Ride The Storm who third in a four-year-old at Kinsale on the corresponding weekend last year. His stablemate Onagatheringstorm has been knocking on the door for a while and may be able to break into the placings again here.

SOLOMN GRUNDY made a winning debut for the Sean Doyle at Tattersalls last Sunday and although he could be turned out quickly here, that was a race with plenty of depth to it and this 133-rated chaser could certainly be expected to follow up here. Eddies Miracle met with defeat when second in the 2018 renewal of this, with his stable companion, Some Man, the Tetretema runner-up, potentially set for his re-appearance. Of the others, Peacocks Secret may not won over fences since January 2019, but he has posted two solid displays in open company this term and is another contender.

On paper this would look to be an interesting match contest between LOCAL ROGUE and Loughhill, both of whom have been making the frame consistent of late. The former was only denied by a neck at Tinahely most recently and may have the narrow edge here over a rival in Loughhill that has finished placed in each of his last two outings. Of the others, the 99-rated hurdle Dunbar may be of most interest.
