Track Biography:
The point-to-point track at Ballycrystal is held on the lands of point-to-point handler Matthew Flynn O'Connor in Kiltealy.
The first meeting took place in January 2020 under the auspices of the Ballinagore Hunt Club, the Island Foxhounds have also used this track for their Autumn fixture.
The course itself is a left handed track and the runners will go downhill for a furlong and a half before it levels out. There is a gentle rise to the line.
In all it is a mile around on each circuit with fives fences. Three of the fences are jumped in the home straight, and all of them come before the winning post. There is another fence at top of the course and the fifth fence is in the back straight.

How To Get There
By Road
From Dublin - Take N7 and M9 to N80 in Carlow. Take exit 5 from M9. Follow N80 and R746 in Wexford, track will be signposted.
From Cork - Follow N8 to E Cork and N25 to Quay St/R500 in New Ross. Take R729 and R731. Continue straight onto R746, track will be signposted.

Combined with extensive free parking we have a clear viewing track that allows race goers to get as close to the action as possible.
We can also provide disabled parking on the day if racegoers inform one of our parking stewards on their way into the point-to-point.
We have portaloo’s and changing facilities for toddlers on the course.
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

Chips, Burgers, Soup, sandwiches, sweets and drinks are available on the track which are all provided by a professional catering company.
There is also plenty of space for families to enjoy picnics if you choose to bring one with you for the day.
If you would like a sweet treat during the day we also have a confectionary stall at the meeting.

There will be a coffee van in situ for the days racing, serving teas and coffee for those looking for a caffine hit throughout the day.
We will also have a full bar on site, so there is something to suit everyone!
No, we do not have a dress code for our point-to-point
Yes, please feel free to bring your dog to the races. However, please ensure to always have them on a lead
Yes, our point-to-ppoint is the perfect place for a picnic out of the boot of your car.
We are lucky enough to have wide open space for children to play in a safe environment.
No, unfortunately we do not have ATM facilities on course. Hit up an ATM on route and try to win some cash throughout the day !

Courtown point-to-point is an ideal day out for all the family, giving you the opportunity to sample the heart of national hunt racing.
There will be a bouncing castle and a number of childrens activities on the day to be sure to keep them entertained all day long.
You have the opportunity to get a close up of the action when the runners are being saddled and paraded in the parade ring before their race. There is great excitement for racegoers as once you have picked out your favourite horse you can proceed to the bookies to have a little flutter.
Nothing beats the excitement of the closing stages of a race and our track ensures that you have a birdseye view. Our final fence and finishing straight are both fantastic viewing points for both spectators in their cars and spectators on foot.

DAZZLING GLORY was unable to follow up the potential that she had shown on debut prior to coming down at the final fence at Oldcastle last month. She was in the process of chasing home an expensive mare on that occasion, and with a subsequent winner having emerged from the horses that would have finished behind her, she is worth a second chance following her latest effort. The Colin Bowe yard has been the stable to beat of late and that would bring the track placed Gallopongray into the equation, whilst Toomebridge runner-up Darcys Hill can go better than her Tinahely effort last Sunday.

The French-bred FIGARO DES BORDES ran out a wide-margin winner of his maiden at Toomebridge earlier in the month, and whilst the winning distance was exaggerated by a final-fence faller, the son of Coastal Path would look the one to beat. Gallow Ford is another five-year-old maiden with a good deal of experience and he battled well at Dromahane, whilst the Ballingarry winner Monty Guiry will be out to improve upon his late departure at Monksgrange.

LONGHOUSE MUSIC is a former champion point-to-point mare who won this race when it was held at the Islands Courtown venue back in April 2019. Twice a winner in this class last term, this will be her first taste of competitive action this season however her stable have really hit the ground running and she sets the standard. The Forge Hill is a progressive mare that is on the up and she impressed when defeating geldings at Monksgrange last month with that race fitness sure to give her an edge, whilst Shuil Luas was another two-time winner last season that seems to like a good test.
