Track Biography:

Kinsale Point to Point along with running a two-day premier race meeting at the end of the point-to-point season also hold an Autumn fixture.

It's a great family day out, the racetrack has superb viewing with food, drink and entertainment.

The first official record of a South Union Foxhounds point-to-point race dates from 1945, when it was held at Warner’s Cross. In 1947, the races moved to Ballinrea near Carrigaline.

In more recent years, the races were held at Cappagh, very close to Kinsale, with winter fixtures at Rochestown.

The races moved to Fort Arthur on the Old Head of Kinsale briefly before alighting on the current site at Farrangalway in 2007.

Kinsale is the gourmet centre of Ireland ! Don’t forget to plan for some seriously good food in one of Kinsale’s award-winning restaurants such as Fishy Fishy, Bastion, The Blue Hazen and Finns Table, to name a few.

There is plenty else to do with activities in Kinsale range from sightseeing and walking to adventure sports, arts and culture. Check out Kinsale.ie for full details of attractions like Charles Fort.

There’s something for everyone – did you know Kinsale people are environmental pioneers, leading the way as a “Transition Town”? Or that Kinsale marks the start of the famous Wild Atlantic Way?

The Kinsale meeting held in the Spring marks the end of the Point-to-Point season, where jockey and trainer championships are decided, and there is great rivalry with horses competing from as far afield as Northern Ireland. Sunday also features family entertainment, with a hound parade, dog show, pony rides and best-dressed competitions, topped off with a concert.

Unusually for a four-year-old maiden at this time of the year there is no previous placed form to go on, with GRAIN DE FOLIE and Minella Buster perhaps brining the pick of the form. The former having finished fourth to Amarillo Sky at Borris House in the spring in a race which has produced a number of notable performers in recent weeks. Of the others, Pull Again Green was not beaten too far in Dromahane by a horse that has since finished second over hurdles and is therefore entitled to enter the mix.

MORTLACH had twice finished placed in bumpers when with Paul Nicholls and whilst he might have been no match for the Pay The Piper on his stable debut at Tinahely last month, he is entitled to progress from it. Welsh Reign has progressed since finishing second in the Tattersalls unplaced maiden, running respectably again at Knockmullen House, whilst Diakosaint is also progressing.

WARRIORS TALE has a rating of 147 over fences and he took a step forward when a close second behind Templebredin at Boulta a fortnight ago which would likely leave him as the one to beat here. Macs Legend was behind him on that occasion, and so it may be the returning Oscar Contender, who claimed the scalp of Fennos Storm last season, or the Rathcannon victor Montys Meadow that are the big dangers.

SUNRISE BEACH was unable to land a blow on her re-appearance in the point-to-point bumper at Fairyhouse last month, but a return back between the flags could be rewarded in this contest as she has a nice piece of form from Cragmore last February. New Money was beaten by 20 lengths last Sunday and needs to bounce back, whilst Honest To Goodness refused at the last when running one of her better races and is another turned out quickly.

ARCTIC COMET skipped winners company altogether when pitched into open company for his first start since winning a Lisronagh maiden last month and he emerged with a great deal of credit in that performance at Boulta which could see him suited by the drop in class. Cut Pretender and Current Mood are two notable recent maiden winners, whilst One For The Yard has been out of luck of late but he did win well at Loughanmore.

JEREMY CENTRAL has a perfect record of four consecutive second placed finishes and this could be a good opportunity for him to have his consistency rewarded with a very deserving maiden success. Boro Melody comes here fresh from a career best at Lingstown which he posted on his first start for current connections, whilst Dower Caves has finished placed in his two starts since changing yards.
