Track Biography:
The records show The Fermanagh Harriers Point to Point Steeplechases began an annual fixture as far back as 1905, when the races were held at Dunbar outside Enniskillen. This is the location of our annual Boxing Day Hunt today!
Over the years the venue has changed once or twice but it has been held at the current location, Necarne Castle, since 1999.
Necarne Castle is located adjacent to the town of Irvinestown and it is with the kind permission of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council thet we have been able to avail of this excellent venue.
Traditionally our Two-day meeting takes place Early-Mid May, which normally leads to some added excitement as various riders are usually vieing for the jockeys championship at this closing stage of the season.
Course preparation and the running of the point to point is all done on a voluntary basis by the members of the Hunt

How To Get There
By Car
From Belfast -Take the M1 out of Belfast City and continue to join the A4. At the roundabout take the Tullyvar Rd/A5. At the next roundabout take the first exit onto the B46. Follow B46 to Tummery Rd/A32 in Dromore. Continue to Irvinestown, continue to Necarne Castle, there will be sign posts for the point-to-point.
From Dublin - From the M50 take exit 6 onto the Navan Rd towards the N3. Continue on the N3 to join the M3, N3, A509 and A32 to Fermanagh. Continue on the A32 to Necarne Castle, there will be sign posts for the point-to-point.
By Air
Our point-to-point is situated just under 2 and a half hours from Dublin Airport and one hour and three quarters from Belfast International Airport.

Ample free car parking is available for all spectators.
Temporary toilets are provided in a number of locations on site.
There is a betting ring on site allowing racegoers to get involved in the action. There will be a number of bookmakers that will have betting on UK and Ireland race meetings.

There will be outside caterers provide hot food options to order in the form of burgers and chips and other fast food options. These are located in close proximity to the parade ring and bookmakers.
There will be a teat tent in situ, with a array of home made goodies, cakes and sandwiches ! If crepes are more your thing, we will have them too !
The beautiful grounds at Necarne Castle lend themselves very well to family picnics, when the weather is favourable.

Set in beautiful Fermanagh countryside just being outdoors is a great pleasure at Necarne Castle
However in recent years the Committee have indroduced addittional attractions to make our Point to Point races a day for all the Family.
This year we will have Best Dressed Competitions, A childrens funfair and a dog show.
Necarne also lends itself to pleasant walks and even a Picnic!

Stable companion Dorans Bridge also made the frame on his sole previous outing, albeit not getting as close to the winner, as too did Knockanard runner-up What A Time.

After hitting the crossbar on consecutive outings last February, PAY THE PIPER can make amends for a below par display at Borris House most recently by gaining a deserved success. Coothill finished third on his debut at Turtulla last Autumn where he finished in front of a subsequent winner, and it will be interesting to see how he fares on his belated return to action. His former stable mate Ballydam has switched yards since he last saw competitive action at Kilfeacle back in January and his Loughrea effort 11 months ago would ensure he would have to enter the equation on his stable debut.

VICTORIAS PEAK holds a very notable piece of form from her Borris House outing where she finished within half-a-length of Shiroccos Dream, a horse that was subsequently bought by Colin Tizzard for 260,000 pounds. Whilst she was not able to take the required step forward at Ballyarthur back in March, this would look the ideal opportunity for her to get her head in front. Stable companion Gallopongray was not disgraced in a number of outings on the track over the Summer and this former Ballingarry runner-up offers the best alternative from those with previous experience.

MARINERO was at his best when taking the first open of the season at Ballingarry last Saturday and having got the better of many capable individuals, including the potentially reopposing Sizing Solution, he could well back that up here. Stable companion Winged Leader gives David Christie a very strong hand for a local success with Arctic Skipper seemingly most likely to prevent that if making the journey as he has now won six times in open company and could make his return to action having been last seen competing at the Cheltenham Festival back in March.
