Track Biography:

Kinsale Point to Point along with running a two-day premier race meeting at the end of the point-to-point season also hold an Autumn fixture.

It's a great family day out, the racetrack has superb viewing with food, drink and entertainment.

The first official record of a South Union Foxhounds point-to-point race dates from 1945, when it was held at Warner’s Cross. In 1947, the races moved to Ballinrea near Carrigaline.

In more recent years, the races were held at Cappagh, very close to Kinsale, with winter fixtures at Rochestown.

The races moved to Fort Arthur on the Old Head of Kinsale briefly before alighting on the current site at Farrangalway in 2007.

Kinsale is the gourmet centre of Ireland ! Don’t forget to plan for some seriously good food in one of Kinsale’s award-winning restaurants such as Fishy Fishy, Bastion, The Blue Hazen and Finns Table, to name a few.

There is plenty else to do with activities in Kinsale range from sightseeing and walking to adventure sports, arts and culture. Check out Kinsale.ie for full details of attractions like Charles Fort.

There’s something for everyone – did you know Kinsale people are environmental pioneers, leading the way as a “Transition Town”? Or that Kinsale marks the start of the famous Wild Atlantic Way?

The Kinsale meeting held in the Spring marks the end of the Point-to-Point season, where jockey and trainer championships are decided, and there is great rivalry with horses competing from as far afield as Northern Ireland. Sunday also features family entertainment, with a hound parade, dog show, pony rides and best-dressed competitions, topped off with a concert.

PREMIUMACCESS made his return to action in a very competitive looking Portrush maiden two weeks ago, where he emerged with plenty of credit having finished third, in front of two other horses with placed form from the spring. He can continue the good form of the Colin Bowe team in this age division. Pats Fancy was a beaten favourite at Tinahely and would need to bounce back to his spring form, whilst Sponthus posted an eye-catching run on debut and may be able to get involved.

BAIGNARD may not have been able to get his head in front for favourite backers at Loughrea two weeks ago, but he was only beaten by a length on that occasion and can make amends here. What About Time was no match for Honest Exchange on his return to action at Tinahely recently, and ran well for a long way before tiring up the hill. It would be no surprise to see him get closer, whilst Not Fou Sale has also proved himself up to winning a race in the past.

MACS LEGEND was in great form last season winning three races, including a notable defeat of Fennos Storm, although there will not be a great deal separating him and the potentially re-opposing All Hell Let Loose. Track recruit Vyta Du Roc made a crucial final fence error at Tinahely, which likely cost him a first open success, whilst Leg Lock Luke and Mighty Stowaway are other track recruits of note.

IMMORTALITY is a full sister to star mare Laurina that was unsurprisingly sent off as a short priced favourite ahead of her debut at Belclare in the spring. Running keenly on that occasions, she ultimately pulled up but could be expected to give a better account of herself in an open looking race. Rosy Story only managed one outing last season, but has promising form from Curraghmore, whilst Style It Out can bounce back from being a beaten favourite last time.

BANNER REBEL only got as far as the fourth fence at Loughrea recently, having been sent off as a short priced favourite. He goes in search of compensation here. Honest Exchange stayed on very strongly up the hill at Tinahely to run out a wide margin winner and has race fitness on his side, whilst Saint Benedict, another Loughrea casualty, has gone close on a number of occasions and should enter the mix.
