Track Biography:

The Carbery Hunt has being running point-to-point races for over fifty years. Racing has being run on the present course for over thirty years, before that races were held on the famous mountain racecourse in Waterfall.

2006 Cheltenham Foxhunter winner, Whyso Mayo won his last race at Bandon at the age of 15 having won here on four occasions during his career. He was owned and bred by Mr Edward O’Driscoll, Master of the Carberry Foxhounds.

Set amongst the beautiful Cork countryside, our well-presented race track with its compact location of parade ring, bookies, finish line and services give a pleasant race day experience close to the action.

Our point-to-point is a great family day in the fresh air out for all ages to enjoy. Our point-to-point is located only half an hour away from Cork city which makes it the ideal location to combine a weekend city break and a day out in the country.

How To Get There

By Road

From Cork City - Take the N71 road to Bandon. At the half way roundabout take the 3rd exit follow the directions to the races via Crossbarry which is the L2231 road.

From west cork through Bandon follow the directions via the Macroom road.

Road signs will be in place on all routes.

By Air

Our point-to-point is located thirty minutes from Cork airport.

Our track offers spectators a real chance to get up close to the action and cheer home the horses. 

We have ample parking available and we can try and accommodate anyone who requires disabled parking.

Along with the portaloo’s available on the day we also have changing facilities for babies and toddlers.

In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.
 

In between races, spectators can avail of a variety of catering options provided. We have a tea tent at our venue which offers freshly made sandwiches and soup.

We also have a fast food caterers for anyone looking for something a little more substantial, tasty beef burgers, sausages, chips.

The venue lends itself very well to family picnics when the weather is favourable.

The scenic town of Bandon is just a stone's throw away from the venue and is worth checking out before or after racing.

Teas and coffees are available in the tea tent all day and we have minerals for the younger race goers.

The fast food caterers will also have a selection of minerals on offer.
 

No dress code, but please dress to keep warm and dry. Point to Pointing is a great outdoor sport and once everyone is dressed for the Irish weather they will have a great day. Warm jackets, hats, gloves and wellies are a must. It?s a good idea to put some rain gear in the car in case it rains, we do live in Ireland!
Yes dogs are welcome but they must be kept on a lead, just for everyone?s safety.
Yes you can bring your own food and drink on the course.
The children will really enjoy looking at all the horses from walking around the parade ring to then jumping the fences.
Unfortunately we have no ATM on site, the nearest would be in Bandon.

Enjoy a walk through Bandon town and call into one of its cafés and enjoy a coffee and some locally produced confectionery. If you happen to be in Bandon on a Saturday morning, visit Bandon's Farmers Market where you can purchase everything from Olives, a variety of artisan breads, locally grown vegetables, chocolate and cheeses.
