Track Biography:
Rathcannon point-to-point has played host to many Hunts over the years and more recently to the Limerick Foxhounds & the Limerick Foxhounds Bruff point-to-point committee.
Many talented riders and horses have graduated from the Limerick Foxhounds point-to-point both when racing on the past venues and presently at Rathcannon.
The track itself is a left-handed course and has been in operation since 2008.
Our race meeting is situated just 40 minutes from Limerick city and just half an hour from the scenic town of Adare, making a trip to Rathcannon point-to-point part of a perfect Family Sunday.

How To Get There

By Road
From Limerick, take the M20 and at junction 5 exit onto the N20 Cork/Croom road. Stay on the N20 until you reach Banogue at which point the point-to-point will be sign posted from there. The race track is two miles from the village of Athlacca.
By Air
Shannon Airport is a 45 minute drive from the point-to-point.
Cork Airport is located an hour and twenty five minutes away.

We have an extensive car parking area which offers a brilliant view of the whole track. This allows you to bring your picnic in the boot of your vehicle which you can enjoy with your family and friend’s during the day’s racing.
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

We have outside caterers who supply a variety of tasty hot foods such as burgers, sausages and chips along with confectionaries for children of which all are reasonably priced.

Our outside caterers sell teas, coffees and soft drinks to keep you warm during your days racing.
No we do not have an official dress code we just advise race goers to stay warm and dry for your days racing and to prepare yourself for all types of Irish weather.
Yes however we do ask that all dogs are kept on a lead at all times.
Yes we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics.
At our point-to-point we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop at an ATM on your way to the races.

Bruff point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in the countryside and as an added bonus for parents all children U16 have free admission.
Race goers have the opportunity to get a close up of the action when the runners are being saddled and paraded in the parade ring before their race. The fence in our home straight allows you to get a perfect viewing point of each race whether you are on foot or in the comfort of your car.
With Limerick city only 30 minutes from the track, there is an endless amount of attractions to keep you busy within the area. The picturesque town of Killarney is only an hour and half drive from the point-to-point.

WELL BUOY has suffered two narrow defeats to date, in a Wexford bumper, and most recently on stable debut at Loughrea. With that form to his name, he is sure to be a warm favourite to provide a popular local success at this 90th-anniversary fixture. The Pat Doyle pair of City Slippers and Dixie Mafia have both made the frame in the past, but need to bounce back to their best form following their latest efforts, whilst the returning Rossbridge cannot be discounted, as he finished a close fourth behind a subsequent track winner when last seen in Ballycrystal.

Willie Murphy sent out a winner and a second at Tattersalls last weekend with his first runners of the new season, and he is entitled to hold strong hopes that The Last Minute may continue that. He was placed in two of his three starts last season, and could be the one to side with here. Longhouse Star and Song For My Father were closely matched at Loughrea last month, but it could be Aill Dubh that is the biggest danger after his third in Umma House.

PRIORY PARK was back among the winners for the first time in close to three years when winning well at Umma House recently, in what was quite a taking display. He had the potentially re-opposing pair of Jay Bee Why and Vaucelet behind him on that occasion, and could potentially double up here. Pat Coyne claimed a notable scalp at Curraghmore last Saturday and would have to be respected if turned out quickly, whilst Millie B and Prophets Corner are others capable of getting involved.

The progressive LONESOME BOATMAN was one of the starts of last season, progressing from an older maiden victory at Lingstown to finishing third in the Champion Hunter Chase at the Punchestown festival. This could be a nice opportunity outside of open company for him to kickstart his campaign. Willitgoahead impressed when winning on the opening weekend of the season at Castletown-Geoghegan in form that has been franked since. He has race fitness on his side, whilst Grageen finished second in a hunter chase at the end of last season, and is another to consider.
