Track Biography:
The South Westmeath Hunt have a long history of holding a point-to-point meeting spanning over 100-years as far back as the early 1900’s. The point-to-point was originally held in Kilkenny West before being moved to Listisson, The Pigeons in 1978. In 2020 they moved to their current location Umma House.
Situated less than 15km`s south-west of their former long-standing course, the track is a good galloping track with two long straights.

How To Get There
By Road:
From Moate town;
Take the L1303 out of Moate (Ballymore on the sign) keep left for ballymore. At the end of that road stay right for ballymore. Take the second road on the left. The p2p is a quarter of a mile down that road on the right.
The eircode N37YY98 will bring people to the road that they will be turning left at to take them to the p2p.

We are delighted to be able to provide free parking which allows spectators to have a clear view right around the track. This also allows the public to stay dry in their car without missing out on any of the action if the weather takes a turn for the worst.
Looking to keep updated with on-track racing which is also taking place on same day in Britain or Ireland? Well you won’t miss a thing. Head over the bookmaker’s ring where all of the day’s off-course horse racing, be it at Leopardstown or Cheltenham, will be shown and you can also bet on the away action alongside our own races.
As we are an outdoor event that only happens once a year, many of our facilities are only temporary which adds to the real character of the event. We do of course have a number of portaloos, catering options and much more to ensure you have a very pleasant experience with us.

In between races, spectators can avail of the variety of catering options that we have on offer.
Our food tent is located beside the parade ring which means you don’t have to venture too far from the action to enjoy the social side of point-to-pointing.
There is also a choice of soup and homemade sandwiches on offer supplied by our committee members.
If hot food isn’t what you are looking for, we also have a delicious selection of cakes, buns and other tempting sweet treats that are made fresh by our hard-working committee members.

We have a choice of hot drinks on offer, from teas and coffees to hot chocolates and soft drinks served to you from our tea tent and or our outside catering vendors.
No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to stay warm and dry for your days racing and to prepare yourself for all types of Irish weather.
Yes, we allow dogs to attend the point-to-point. However, we do ask that all dogs are kept on a lead at all times.
Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics as our parking inside the center of the course offers the perfect location for a picnic. We also have a range of catering options on course if you fancy picking-up something tasty on the go.
At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
No we do not provide an ATM but we our only a short drive from the village of Glasson which has ATM facilities so we recommend that you stop over on your way to the races.

A day at Umma House point-to-point races is the ideal day out for all the family in the heart of the Irish countryside.
One of the real treats of racing at Umma House, is just how close racegoers can get to the action. Watch the horses being saddled up by their trainers before making your way to the parade ring where the horses, jockeys and connections gather to discuss their pre-race tactics.
Selected your fancy for the race? Well head over to the betting ring where our friendly bookmakers are waiting to take your bet for the race and now it’s time watch the race itself.
Our younger racegoers are at the heart of our race day with free admission for children under 16 ensuring it is an inexpensive location for Mum and Dad to bring the whole family out on a Sunday afternoon.
Baby changing facilities are available and if you ever need a bottle heated then please just ask a committee member.

TRICKSOFTHETRADE was only beaten by a head in a thigh three-way finish at Ballyragget when making her debut last March. The winner of that maiden has since come out an advertised the form by making a winning start to her career under rules in a Perth bumper last month, which should leave her as the one to beat. Clody Diamond has the advantage of having a recent run under her belt after she finished second in Toomebridge a fortnight ago when well-supported, whilst Queens Abbey made the frame at Tattersalls in the spring.

BALLYEDWARD more than acquitted himself on debut when he finished third at Loughanmore in April, and with the recent Toomebridge scorer Manhatten Valley having finished behind him on that occasion, the form has been nicely boosted. Soldier In Mayo finished his debut out strongly when third at Castletown-Geoghegan a fortnight ago, which should bring him on, whilst Poppycon and Diamond Appeal are others of those with previous form to have offered promise.

Three lengths separated Au Fleuron and Pat Coyne when they finished first and second at Castletown-Geoghegan a fortnight ago, and they will again be expected to get involved here. Vaucelet did not reach the same heights last season that he had previously scaled, and is without a win since December 2022, so it may be worth siding with JAY BEE WHY. He was a decent performer for Warren Ewing last season and has now joined Sam Curling, a stable that has already been among the winners in this division recently.
