Track Biography:

The Mid-Antrim Hunt was formally set up in the 1870’s as a harrier pack, although it was in existence for at least a hundred years before that. It was believed to have had its first official meeting in The Thatch Pub in Broughshane in 1875.

The Mid Antrim point-to-point Course is just outside Moneyglass very close to Toomebridge. Toome or Toomebridge (from Irish: Tuaim, meaning "tumulus"), is a small village and townland on the northwest corner of Lough Neagh in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Moneyglass was at one time home to Malachy McCourt and his family who was the father of Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes, a winner of The Pulitzer Prize, the NBCC Award, The LA Times Award and the Royal Society of Literature Award.

Champion National Hunt jockey and 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner, Tony McCoy, who received an OBE in 2010, was born in Moneyglass.

Another sports star reared in Moneyglass was world famous Rugby Union player Willie John McBride who capped for Ireland on 63 occasions which includes 12 times as Captain.

The reigning champion handler Colin Bowe started the new season with a Castletown-Geoghegan double last Sunday and with the stable beginning the campaign in good form KILTEALY PARK could continue that here. She had two solid placed runs in April which should stand to her following the summer break. Whatmakes Honey would likely have finished placed at Dromahane but for falling two out, and then finished an encouraging fifth in a big-field Bartlemy maiden. She looks the obvious danger alongside the Hay Baby who was sent off as the favourite for her debut in Ballycahane.

With a couple of these needing to recapture their early promise, it could be ROSSBRIDGE that is the pick of those with previous form as he was only beaten by seven lengths on debut at Moira. Things have not gone to plan for Castle Swan since he finished fourth at Liscarroll in testing conditions and his connections will be hoping that he can put in a clean round of jumping, whilst Wild Nephin is similarly looking to bounce back to form. He had finished third in a small field maiden at Comea on debut, a race that he was sent off as the favourite for, but failed to complete on his only subsequent start at Loughanmore over Easter.

This could be a very winnable opportunity for ISHOLO DU VIVIEN if he reproduces the performance of his Tyrella second. Syr Maffos has his first start in this sphere as he tries this trip for the first time having moved stables over the summer. Twice placed over hurdles from Tom Lacey is has a hurdles mark of 81, whilst Killard Point could be a newcomer to keep an eye on given that his stable produced a well-backed impressive winning debutant at Castletown-Geoghegan last Sunday.

This race could see two of the winners from the season-opening card at Castletown-Geoghegan last Sunday clash with both LECALE WAY and Agent Tequila both among the entries. Whilst the latter took a notable step forward, Lecale Way justified market support and is taken to double up. There are a number of other last-time out maiden winners that could get involved with Raceview Road and La Vega Moon likely to be of interest.

JOSIES DYLAN has recent race fitness on his side having run in three maiden hurdles in quite quick succession during August. The return to the pointing sphere could see him pick up where he left off at Broughshane when chasing home a subsequent six-figure seller. This should be a strong forward task on paper for him.
