Track Biography:

The Killeagh Point-to-Point races have found a new venue in Carrigarostig which will show off the great scenery around Killeagh and will have some great racing and entertainment throughout the afternoon for all to enjoy. It is generally held in the middle of January. With one of the best viewing tracks for spectators over-looking all five fences, the atmosphere at the finish is often electric according to the jockeys.

It is one of the most accessible Point to Points in Ireland with its location only 1.5 miles off the N25 (Cork/Waterford Road) with the excellent road network leading from all corners of the country.

The Committee of Killeagh Point-to-Point has a large number of racing aficionados from the local community including Owners, Trainers, Breeders and Jockeys to name a few that help out to make Killeagh Point-to-Point successful as it is. We also have plenty of local volunteers that contribute their free time to the committee and love seeing the sport thriving in the rural areas of Ireland.

Our fixture typically draws a large entry each year with trainers from all over Ireland running their horses here at our track.

For more information, check out our Facebook page Killeagh Point to Point or Twitter @KilleaghP2P.

REDZY ROCCO was only narrowly denied when finishing third in an ultra-tight three-way finish at Dromahane last month. She was staying on to particularly good effect on that occasion and had a previously placed horse behind her which should auger well for her return. Nt Field Minnesota has an alternative engagement on the same afternoon in Turtulla, but if appearing here would have to be seriously respect if bouncing back to her Loughanmore effort, whilst Carrig Kate has a good bit of experience behind her and has definite place claims again.

This has a very wide-open look to it, but it may be worth siding with ROCKSTOWN NATIVE here. He was not without his supporters ahead of his debut in Kirkistown and caught the eye travelling well through the contest despite not enjoying the run of the race. It would not be a surprise to see him step forward in this. Joe Cotton can progress from his first completed effort in Necarne whilst Soldier Dan represents a stable that had both of their runners go close at Aghabullogue last Sunday.

Kinsale winner TENDER HEART put up a good effort on her first outing winners company when running the improved Desert Heather to within a length at Ballindenisk last month. Those recent efforts could give her the edge here. Carrig Wells was some 16 lengths behind her that day but has tended to improve for her first start of the season in previous years so cannot be discounted alongside the returning Bankoncarlo.

Del Amitir could well prove to be the biggest danger to the selection whilst Glorious Mist did run respectably when following home Johngus last time and he advertised the form in a Hunter Chase at Limerick subsequently.

Henry de Bromhead looks to have a very strong hand for this with two former top-class track performers in Monalee and CHRISS DREAM. The latter ran out a 22-length winner in testing conditions at Moig South on his open debut and sets a strong standard. Lord Schnitzel represents the most in-form stable in the country and he made amends for being a beaten favourite at Kinsale when winning well at Ballindenisk. He had the potentially re-opposing and subsequent winner Chatham Street Lad behind him on that occasion, whilst Its On The Line and Woodbrook Boy are others that have been running well of late.

GOOD FRIDAY FAIR was right in the shake-up for place honours when exiting at the final at Boulta last month and the grey could gain compensation here. There are no shortage of dangers however with Bloomhill, Master Psalm, Fionns Choice and Big In Milan all entitled to getting involved, whilst the newcomer Discombobulated carries the notably colours of Jared Sullivan and will undoubtedly be of interest as a result.
