Track Biography:

The County Down hunt have been in existence since the early 1900’s. We have held our point-to-point meeting at Loughbrickland for over 70 years by kind permission of the Kidd family. Our autumn meeting is run in November each year with our spring fixture taking place in April.

Over the years, Loughbrickland point-to-point has produced many top national hunt stars such as 2003 Aintree Grand national winner Bindaree and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up Truckers Tavern.

One of the real attractions of point-to-point racing is the opportunity to get up close and personal with the future stars of the racing world in a relaxed and family friendly environment.

Our point-to-point is located 15 minutes away from the picturesque Slieve Gullion Forest Park which has something for all of the family including woodland trails, stunning views across the Ring of Gullion, Mourne Mountains, Cooley Peninsula and Armagh Drumlins as well as a play park and tour guides of the park.

With very little previous placed form on offer, SOVEREIGN STAR would be one to bring the strongest form into this having finished third to the recent Galway bumper winner Affordable Fury at Ballycahane on his debut. Sovereign Star was unable to follow up that initial effort in Quakerstown but would enter this mix on his debut effort. Annaghbeg could be turned out quickly after a fine effort in Loughanmore last Saturday, whilst the newcomers are worthy of a market check.

SHINNHILL took a big step forward at Taylorstown in the spring having changed stables from his debut and if he was to continue in that vein of form could be the one to side with in this. Forcing Bull has yet to recapture the form he produced at Corbeagh House last December, whilst track recruit La Nouveau did make the frame in a Galway bumper last year when with Willie Mullins. He now joins Conor Maxwell after two disappointing runs over hurdles for Liz Doyle.

MARRONSTOWN defeated An Mhi, a horse who was running respectably at Cheltenham last weekend on his rules debut, when making a winning debut in Farmacaffley earlier in the year and could be tough to beat on his first start for David Christie. Stablemate Ferns Lock will have benefitted for his return run at Portrush recently, whilst wide-margin Largy maiden winner Big Reggie was running a fine race at Punchestown when pitched into open company to suggest he could be a real threat in this grade.

ELUISIVE MAE all but fell at the final fence in Tinahely whilst upsides and holding every chance a fortnight ago and if repeating that form here she could be tough to beat. Finding Fame ran for three different stables last season and has changed yards again over the summer, but has made the frame in the past to give her place claims alongside Ambush Annie, who was a market mover ahead of her debut.

GRAIN DE FOLIE did not make much of an impact in two starts on the track for John McConnell, but he did finish second in a Stradbally four-year-old maiden to suggest he can make an impact on his first start for new handler Martin Fox. 80-rated chaser Highstreetfashion has plenty of track experience to rely on which should be an asset here, whilst Kalamkan finished placed for the sixth time last Saturday, albeit beaten some way.
