PAINTED WOLF may have been a beaten favourite in each of his two outings to date however he has a progressive profile and was holding strong chances at Castletown-Geoghegan recently only to be outjumped at the final fence which sealed his defeat. He certainly sets the benchmark here and is close to an opening victory. Colin McKeever won this race back in 2019 with the subsequent Grade 1 winner Ballyadam and with his stable seemingly in good form in recent weeks, both Ballyburn and Ballyfinn warrant respect, as does Cicero Grimes who represents the same combination that produced Bob Olinger to win a four-year-old maiden.

Caroline McCaldin has saddled a winner on each of the past two Saturdays and HORNET NOLIMIT could continue her fine start to the season having showed nice improvement to finish second in Castletown-Geoghegan on what was his first start for her. The similarly Wilson Dennison-owned Forcing Bull has finished third in three of his last four starts but is likely to be in the mix once again, but it may be Jet Patrol who offers the biggest danger as he was sent off as the favourite for a competitive looking maiden in Lingstown before falling in the early stages.

DRUMLEES PET has not seen competitive action in almost 11 months, however her latest effort in Moig South really stands up to scrutiny having finished third behind the subsequent hunter chase winner Ifeoinly, with the subsequent GAIN Final winner Koyote also behind here. If returning in that form, she could be tough to oppose. Call The Barmaid is the obvious danger, having finished second, albeit no match for an impressive winner at Loughanmore over Easter and is sure to have improved since.

This could be one of the races of the autumn term if some of the leading protagonists in this stand their ground with race possibly marking the return to action of VAUCELET one of last seasons top hunter chasers on either side of the Irish Sea. He won this race last season and connections will be hoping for a repeat bid. Samcro and Castlebawn West are among the star track names who could appear in open company for the first time, whilst Coastal Tiep cannot be forgotten about despite not having been seen for close to two years.

Whilst small on numbers this race has the potential to be one of the stronger winners races run this season, with a pair of interesting maiden winners against a proven horse in the division. FERNS LOCK is one such maiden winner, as he was snapped up by his new connections after making a winning debut in a ferociously run Lisronagh maiden back in February. Whilst he was fortunate to win due to a final-fence faller, it looked a smart performance. Faith Loving represents in-form connections and is proven in this grade to offer the selection a stiff test, whilst Ultimate Optimist won his maiden with any amount in hand.

LE MIEUX really took off late last season once joining Peter Flood and whilst he had a blip at the first in Castletown-Geoghegan on his seasonal re-appearance this looks an ideal opportunity for him to open his account. Drumlee Lake has shown snippets of form in winners company and could get more competitive here.
