Track Biography:

The North Down point-to-point moved to its current course at Kirkistown in 2006 and have held three meetings each season since then. The course is located towards the eastern side of the Ards Peninsula near the village of Portavogie.  It’s in an area that was used as an airfield during the war and hence is very flat and well drained.

Kirkistown is a very level left handed course run over a circuit just short of a mile. Runners jump two fences close to the spectator’s area and a further three along the back straight.

Our November fixture is normally the final meeting of the autumn calendar in the northern area. Conversely, our February and March fixtures are two of the earliest in the northern spring calendar.

Some of the leading graduates from our point-to-point include Simonsig, Petit Mouchoir & Agus A Vic.

Like Ta Ma may have finished a close third on her debut at Tralee last year, however the form of that three-runner race is not working out well of late and so she is bypassed in favour of HAY GIRL who put up her best effort to date when second at Damma House in November. Value Till Dawn was staying on strongly before running out at the last in Tyrella recently and cannot be discounted alongside Carlotalin, whilst Dame De Fortune has been sent off as the favourite for each of her two starts to date.

GENERAL OFFICER finished out his race at Lingstown to particularly good effect last November in a race where he finished in front of Tapley who advertised the form when going close at Ballinaboola last Sunday. That would see him set the standard here ahead of Forcing Bull and Lets Do This who were only three lengths apart when finishing third and fourth respectively at Corbeagh House before Christmas.

MIGHTY STOWAWAY has a number of potential engagements and although he could up against a number of very capable open performers if lining-up here, he gets the preference in his bid for win number five of the season. Brain Power looked right back to form when defeating Creadan Grae at Tyrella last month, with Poli Roi also have got the better of that rival in Broughshane last spring. Their may not be much separating that pair, and like Poli Roi, Some Man will also be bidding to bounce back from his latest Down Royal effort but his win around here in November was impressive.

TAMLAGHT EYES could not won any easier on his first start for the Gerald Quinn team with a wide-margin success at Tyrella, and whilst competition will likely be stiffer here, she is taken to swiftly double her tally. Midway To Getaway has been competing at a higher level and take a drop down in class here having ren well against geldings last week. Providing that Ballinaboola effort has not left its mark she is the obvious danger ahead of Lingstown winner Wildfield Ivy.

SIFAKA was beaten just under three lengths at Corbeagh House in early December and give his unexposed profile, he could be the one to side with here ahead of the experienced Henry Africa. Iddergem is back following a break after he failed to finish in a big field maiden at Tattersalls, whilst Golden Symphony, a runner-up over hurdles at Cork, and the returning So Be It are others to take note of.
