Track Biography:
Rathcannon point-to-point has played host to many Hunts over the years and more recently to the Limerick Foxhounds & the Limerick Foxhounds Bruff point-to-point committee.
Many talented riders and horses have graduated from the Limerick Foxhounds point-to-point both when racing on the past venues and presently at Rathcannon.
The track itself is a left-handed course and has been in operation since 2008.
Our race meeting is situated just 40 minutes from Limerick city and just half an hour from the scenic town of Adare, making a trip to Rathcannon point-to-point part of a perfect Family Sunday.

How To Get There

By Road
From Limerick, take the M20 and at junction 5 exit onto the N20 Cork/Croom road. Stay on the N20 until you reach Banogue at which point the point-to-point will be sign posted from there. The race track is two miles from the village of Athlacca.
By Air
Shannon Airport is a 45 minute drive from the point-to-point.
Cork Airport is located an hour and twenty five minutes away.

We have an extensive car parking area which offers a brilliant view of the whole track. This allows you to bring your picnic in the boot of your vehicle which you can enjoy with your family and friend’s during the day’s racing.
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

We have outside caterers who supply a variety of tasty hot foods such as burgers, sausages and chips along with confectionaries for children of which all are reasonably priced.

Our outside caterers sell teas, coffees and soft drinks to keep you warm during your days racing.
No we do not have an official dress code we just advise race goers to stay warm and dry for your days racing and to prepare yourself for all types of Irish weather.
Yes however we do ask that all dogs are kept on a lead at all times.
Yes we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics.
At our point-to-point we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop at an ATM on your way to the races.

Bruff point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in the countryside and as an added bonus for parents all children U16 have free admission.
Race goers have the opportunity to get a close up of the action when the runners are being saddled and paraded in the parade ring before their race. The fence in our home straight allows you to get a perfect viewing point of each race whether you are on foot or in the comfort of your car.
With Limerick city only 30 minutes from the track, there is an endless amount of attractions to keep you busy within the area. The picturesque town of Killarney is only an hour and half drive from the point-to-point.

Having sent out their first winner of the season in a similar event at Tattersalls last Sunday, GARCON DARGENT could continue that winning form in this age division as he went close in Dromahane at the back end of last season, beating subsequent winner Crypto Currency by seven lengths in the process. Dogem By Design represents another stable that were in the winners enclosure last weekend and he finished fourth in Moira on his debut which he can build on.

ROSE OF COOLBALLY was unable to back-up her Dromahane debut where she had chased home the subsequent Hunter Chase-placed Clounts Glory, when pulling-up at Ballindenisk. The six-year-old, who is her stables first point runner of the new season, is worth a second chance in this. Katlaur ended last season with a career best in Kirkistown and can be expected to pick up here where she had left off, ahead of Sadie Yeats and the twice-placed Spare Wheel.

Of those with form, Likable Rogue is a 90-rated hurdler that has a number of respectable pieces of track form to his name, whilst Your Own Story stepped up from his debut in a bumper to finish fourth at Ballindenisk last term.

ON THE SOD ended last season by winning a Downpatrick Hunter Chase in very taking fashion and he is clearly a horse on the upgrade. Like the 2019 Aintree Foxhunters runner-up Burning Ambition, he would be making his re-appearance here and if there are any fitness concerns around the pair, Samanntom will certainly expose them, as he is race-fit following his second consecutive win last Sunday but does have alternative entries. He had the measure of Snugsborough Benny on that occasion, whilst Fennos Storm is a former top hunter chaser who is also back pointing.

LORD SCHNITZEL was a very capable track horse at his peak and he belatedly opened his account with a facile success at Loughrea and he could follow up in this. Coastguard Station won his second race of the campaign on the same card, albeit in a weaker race to this but has definite claims as he seeks a hat-trick, whilst recent maiden winner Chato Santana and Umma House winner Beyond Redemption are others that cannot be discounted.
