Track Biography:
The point-to-point track at Ballycrystal is held on the lands of point-to-point handler Matthew Flynn O'Connor in Kiltealy.
The first meeting took place in January 2020 under the auspices of the Ballinagore Hunt Club, the Island Foxhounds have also used this track for their Autumn fixture.
The course itself is a left handed track and the runners will go downhill for a furlong and a half before it levels out. There is a gentle rise to the line.
In all it is a mile around on each circuit with fives fences. Three of the fences are jumped in the home straight, and all of them come before the winning post. There is another fence at top of the course and the fifth fence is in the back straight.

How To Get There
By Road
From Dublin - Take N7 and M9 to N80 in Carlow. Take exit 5 from M9. Follow N80 and R746 in Wexford, track will be signposted.
From Cork - Follow N8 to E Cork and N25 to Quay St/R500 in New Ross. Take R729 and R731. Continue straight onto R746, track will be signposted.

Combined with extensive free parking we have a clear viewing track that allows race goers to get as close to the action as possible.
We can also provide disabled parking on the day if racegoers inform one of our parking stewards on their way into the point-to-point.
We have portaloo’s and changing facilities for toddlers on the course.
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

Chips, Burgers, Soup, sandwiches, sweets and drinks are available on the track which are all provided by a professional catering company.
There is also plenty of space for families to enjoy picnics if you choose to bring one with you for the day.
If you would like a sweet treat during the day we also have a confectionary stall at the meeting.

There will be a coffee van in situ for the days racing, serving teas and coffee for those looking for a caffine hit throughout the day.

Yes, please feel free to bring your dog to the races. However, please ensure to always have them on a lead

We are lucky enough to have wide open space for children to play in a safe environment.
No, unfortunately we do not have ATM facilities on course. Hit up an ATM on route and try to win some cash throughout the day!

Ballycrystal point-to-point is an ideal day out for all the family, giving you the opportunity to sample the heart of national hunt racing.
You have the opportunity to get a close up of the action when the runners are being saddled and paraded in the parade ring before their race.
There is great excitement for racegoers as once you have picked out your favourite horse you can proceed to the bookies to have a little flutter.
Nothing beats the excitement of the closing stages of a race and our track ensures that you have a terrific view. Our final fence and finishing straight are both fantastic viewing points.

SAGECRAFT got no further than the first fence at Tinahely recently when sent off as the favourite and she could make amends in this having only narrowly been denied at Castletown-Geoghegan on her debut. Katlaur and Psalmninetyone and others with placed form to their name, the former having ended last season with a career best in a big-field maiden at Kirkistown, whilst Psalmninetyone was beaten less than four lengths at Oldcastle back in September, and if she could reproduce that effort, she could go close.

The newcomer VIKINGS WAY has an eye-catching pedigree being a full-brother of Vanillier, the winner of the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March, and he could provide a local success in this. Patient Partner took a notable step forward at Tinahely earlier this month when he left two non-completions behind him to finish a close third in what was quite a bunched finish. He should certainly be knocking on the door in this alongside Tipperary bumper-third Battle Frontier.

SAMANNTOM goes in search of a hat-trick here following taking victories at Umma House and Curraghmore in recent weeks, and if conditions came up in his favour, it could be hard to stop his winning run as he has already beaten Foreign Secretary this term. Dylrow was a beaten favourite at Moira on his return, but should be able to improve from it, whilst Lord Schnitzel may only be an older maiden winner, but he is a proven handicapper on the track and could put up a big showing.

HARD RAIN came from off the pace to finish a very encouraging third at Umma House earlier this month for what was his first run in 308 days. With that initial effort of the season behind him, he may not have to find much further improvement to take this. Knockiel Synge has long been knocking on the door of taking a race like this and is an obvious danger alongside Time To Bite, Five Dollar Fine and Boselli.
