Track Biography:

Kinsale Point to Point along with running a two-day premier race meeting at the end of the point-to-point season also hold an Autumn fixture.

It's a great family day out, the racetrack has superb viewing with food, drink and entertainment.

The first official record of a South Union Foxhounds point-to-point race dates from 1945, when it was held at Warner’s Cross. In 1947, the races moved to Ballinrea near Carrigaline.

In more recent years, the races were held at Cappagh, very close to Kinsale, with winter fixtures at Rochestown.

The races moved to Fort Arthur on the Old Head of Kinsale briefly before alighting on the current site at Farrangalway in 2007.

Kinsale is the gourmet centre of Ireland ! Don’t forget to plan for some seriously good food in one of Kinsale’s award-winning restaurants such as Fishy Fishy, Bastion, The Blue Hazen and Finns Table, to name a few.

There is plenty else to do with activities in Kinsale range from sightseeing and walking to adventure sports, arts and culture. Check out Kinsale.ie for full details of attractions like Charles Fort.

There’s something for everyone – did you know Kinsale people are environmental pioneers, leading the way as a “Transition Town”? Or that Kinsale marks the start of the famous Wild Atlantic Way?

The Kinsale meeting held in the Spring marks the end of the Point-to-Point season, where jockey and trainer championships are decided, and there is great rivalry with horses competing from as far afield as Northern Ireland. Sunday also features family entertainment, with a hound parade, dog show, pony rides and best-dressed competitions, topped off with a concert.

SEASIDE LADY met with her first defeat when having to chase home the very useful Maiftizs Madonna at Durrow back in March. Whilst we have not seen Pierce Powers charge since, her conqueror at that Offaly course has since won again to frank the form. Shuil Luas is proven in this company and should be thereabouts, whilst there are a number of interesting recent maiden winners to watch out for, including Hello Pilgrim and Direct Image.

A close third on his debut in a competitive Portrush maiden that has already produced four subsequent maiden winner, KIRIGLOTE disappointed badly on his only subsequent start at Stradbally in April, however if he can put that showing behind him, he could continue the great success Denis Murphy has been enjoying of late. Cronins Hill has put together two solid runs at Bartlemy and Dawstown in recent weeks and would certainly enter the equation here alongside No Gale, who also ran well at Bartlemy.

Natural Fit returns from a 76-day break looking to avenge two narrow defeats at Cragmore and Ballyarthur, and she would certainly be a popular winner for local connections if she could record what would be a very deserved success. The pick of the opposition could come from the Donnchadh Doyle pairing of Shabba Dada Do and Cobra Angel, whilst Woodfield Symphony could be set to make a quick re-appearance having finished a close third on her debut at Tralee just last Saturday.

LONGHOUSE MUSIC goes in search of her 13th success of the season and on what she has produced this season, it is very hard to look beyond her in this seven days after her latest success at Tralee. Stable companion Poetic Presence was also a winner at Tralee but is unlikely to deny her stable companion a chance at the title, leaving proven open horse Gabrielleamee or the more unexposed Hello Pilgrim as the likely dangers. The latter took a big step forward when winning her maiden at Ballindenisk on what was her first start in 11 months, but this is a big step up in class.

KRUZHLININ will need to win this if he is to keep himself in contention with Longhouse Music in the race to become champion point-to-point horse, particularly with that rival having two far easier opportunities this weekend in mares only company. Sydney Paget has his title for just two more days as the reigning champion pointer and will be looking to end his season on a high note, whilst Some Are Lucky and All Hell Let Loose will be hoping that this long distance four mile contest can bring them into the reckoning.

SHELL BE BACK has been forced to settle for the runners up spot in two similar contests in recent times, including at Ballindenisk just 13 days ago when she was defeated by an agonisingly small margin. Compensation could deservedly come her way here. Slipping Away has nine lengths to find with her on their clast at Bartlemy and could not get closer at Ballindenisk, which may leave Charmeur Beauchene as the big threat. He was sent off as the favourite on what was his debut in that Ballindenisk contest, departing with a circuit to race whilst in front at the time.
