Track Biography:

The Tipperary foxhounds are one of the oldest packs in Ireland, dating back to 1820. The pack was formed by The Bartons who reside in Grove, which is only two minutes from the point-to-point.

The Tipperary foxhounds hold two point-to-points each year on the same popular and well-appointed track in the spring and in the autumn. The track has a circuit of just under a mile, with undulating land and can be used both right and left handed.

Entries traditionally are large at the popular track, giving a great day of sport with divided races. Many winners at the track have gone on to make great names for themselves including Cheltenham foxhunter winners On The Fringe and Salsify.

We have free parking for spectators and sections that can be used to facilitate disabled parking with clear views of the track.

As we are an outdoor event that only happens once a year, many of our facilities are only temporary which adds to the real character of the event. We do of course have a number of portaloos, catering options and much more to ensure you have a very pleasant experience with us.

In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

Our outside food caterers are located beside the parade ring and bookies and they sell an array of hot food options such as burgers, chips, sausages and chicken goujons.

Also if you would like a treat during your days racing we have a sweet stall in attendance.

All patrons are welcome to pack a picnic style lunch to enjoy during the races.

There are a variety of refreshments on offer from teas and coffees for the spectators looking for something hot!

For those looking for refreshments our outstide caterers provide a variety of drinks.

There is something to suit all the family!

Not forgetting the coffee lovers, why not sample the delicious coffee from the Shergar Café which also serves some delish treats.

No, we do not have an official dress code however we advise our racegoers to dress up for the weather so that the day can be enjoyed to the full. In the autumn it may be windy and wet under foot, conversely it could be a lovely sunny crispy day. In the spring the weather can be variable also.
Dogs are very welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times. Why not enter them in our dog show!
Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics or refreshments.
The dog show and terrier racing are some of the entertainments which are provided for the kids and everyone is very welcome to bring their own dogs, including terriers for the racing.
No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop in the nearby town of Clonmel which is only three miles from the point-to-point.

We have two meetings a year one in the Autumn and one in the Spring which is a great day out for all the family over the weekend.

We have an abundance of attractions for everyone including a dog show, terrier racing and a side saddle race.

Our parking offers great viewing of the track in this picturesque area of Co.Tipperary which is surrounded by Slieve na Mon and The Comeragh Mountains.

Two of the fences as well as the finish are located beside the best viewing areas so race goers can get up close to the action.

Also as an added bonus for parents all children U16 have free admission.

The luckless METHODTOTHEMADNESS is certainly deserving of a change in fortunes, as she came down in the closing stages at both Monksgrange and Necarne last season, having shown very promising signs. She was upsides Robin Des Sivola when the pair exited at the last at Necarne, and with Robin Des Sivola having already won the opening race in this division at Toomebridge, that is a big boost, whilst the stable is in red hot form. Takingitallin, Subtle Quest and Honest Opinion are among the likely dangers.

An open-looking race which could see FLAMING GLORY set the benchmark from those horses with previous experience if he could bounce back to the initial promise of his debut third at Dawstown in May. Fellow Wexford raiser Overnightsensation has disappointed at both Bartlemy and Moira, but he has shown a liking for this course having run his best race to date when third around here in the spring. The market will give the best guide to the newcomers.

The Mark Fagan-trained KALETTO took a big step forward on her return to action at The Pigeons last month when only going down by a narrow margin to the previously placed Maliboo. Compensation could well await for her here. The quick returning Gold Time made some costly errors at Damma House last Sunday before staying on well and she is the obvious danger, whilst Bythebogofcats was running well at Dowth Hall a fortnight ago before coming down at the third-last.

OPERATION OVERLOAD is a well-related individual who will surely be of interest here as he could make his debut in the colours of JP McManus for handler Enda Bolger. It is a wide-open race with the likes of Plan Of Escape needing to put two non-completions as a beaten favourite behind him and the unlucky Stradbally final-fence faller Steelers Appeal having finished tailed off at Tramore. He has switched yards over the summer.

Two of the top mares from the opening month of the season could cross paths here with BLOODSTREAM and Longhouse Music out to supplement early success this term. The former was electric on good ground at Loughbrickland on her return to action and will be out to go one better than her second in this race 12 months ago. Summons To Court came up against a smart type at Tinahely, but was impressive at Moira, whilst Twilight Shadow is a former Downpatrick maiden hurdle winner.

MY FOREVER FRIEND was unlucky at Damma House last Sunday and will be out to gain compensation here. He will have the advantage of recent race fitness over Bunninadden, who has yet to finish outside of the first four in four completed runs between the flags, including narrow defeats at both Stradbally and Inchydoney. A big run can be expected on his reappearance. Spivey Cove has the edge over the twice-placed Ted on their run at Ballingarry, and they would seem to be next best.
