Track Biography:
The Hunt dates back to the early 20th century and has been running point-to-point meetings since the mid-1950s. This is our third track to run Askeaton point-to-point on. The first being where the County Limericks have run for the past few years. Adrian Maguire rode his 1st winner there for Michael Hourigan. This was a track PP Hogan had many great days on with the likes of the great Underway, Any Crack, Shrewd Operator and many more.
Then we moved to Toomdeely where the late John Thomas McNamara rode his first winner, for his uncle Andrew, on our first day there in 1996. There were plenty of good horses who won on this track including the likes of Strong Flow, Noble Thyne one of only a few horses to beat Istabraq and more recently Rogue Angel won a four-year-old maiden and went on to win the Irish Grand National in 2016.
We moved to our current track at Moig South in 2018, it is a left handed track and is located on the verge of Askeaton village.

No dress code, but it is advisable to wear appropriate winter gear as the weather varies a lot this time of year. Wellies are a must!

At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.

the family in the countryside and as an added bonus for parents all children U16 have free admission.
With Limerick city only 30 minutes from the track, there is an endless amount of attractions to keep you busy within the area. The picturesque town of Killarney is also only an hour and half drive from the point-to-point.

LITTLE LIGHT was set to be play a big part in the finish of what looked a very competitive maiden at Horse & Jockey last month when crashing out at the final fence. She offered a lot of promise with that opening effort, and compensation could well lie in waiting here. On that same afternoon, The Cull Bank ran with credit when taking on geldings at Lingstown, and she would seem the main danger as she returns to competing against her own sex.

WAYFINDER may have the pick of the form from the select number of horses with previous racing experience behind them. The Shantou gelding ran well for a long way before finishing fourth in the race won by Envious Editor at Bellharbour. Lismore runner-up Young Bull chased home a horse who has since sold for a big price and it will be interesting to see how he follows that opening effort up, whilst the market will give the best indication as to what is expected of the many well-bred newcomers.

CHAIN SMOKER has to be considered unlucky when crashing out at the final fence last time out in Horse and Jockey when in front. He is an improving type and should go close here. His form at Horse & Jockey would have him closely matched with Monte Alban who did not have a straight forward passage on that occasion, whilst Old Rascals finished second on debut in Cragmore in February, before he blotted his record when he ran out at Borris last time out.
