Track Biography:

Quakerstown Point-to-Point is run under the auspices of the Co Clare Hunt. The track is based at Quakerstown in Boston, Co Clare and is set against the backdrop of the majestic Burren.

Quakerstown has proved to be an excellent source of young talent in recent years with Cheltenham Festival Grade 1 winner, Champagne Fever starting his career with a win at this meeting in 2011.

Another exciting young talent to come from this meeting was Bacardys who went on to win the Grade 2 bumper at Aintree and the Grade 1 Deloitte Novice Hurdle in Leopardstown in 2017.

The 2016 meeting also saw the exciting Next Destination land the four year old maiden and he is now a multiple Graded winner over hurdles including a Grade 1 at Naas.

Following the success of the Craft & Artisan Food Fair at the Easter Country festival last year, the committee hope to build on its success and this year it will again feature local food producers.

We will have a number of food outlets located at the track for the day which will serve a wide range of hot and cold foods and snacks for our patrons to enjoy.

For something a little sweeter, there will be a crepe stall and a number of confectionary stalls. There is sure to be something for everyone.

We will have a gourmet Barista serving the highest quality speciality teas and coffees throughout the day.

Some of our dedicated volunteers will also be on hand in the indoor seating pavilion to supply patrons with a range of hot and cold beverages for purchase.

There is no standard dress code for point to points but we would advise anyone attending the races to dress warmly and to be prepared for evertything that the Irish weather can throw at them. It is advisable to have appropriate footwear and outer wear for wet conditions. There is no harm is being stylish at the same time!
Dogs are encouraged to attend the point to point especially as there is a dog show which takes place on the day. It is important to note that ALL dogs attending the Point to Point are requested to be kept on a lead at ALL times. The Dog Show has an entry fee of €3 per class and prizes and rosettes for the winners.
We welcome picnics but we also offer a number of on-course catering options for those who would rather not bring their own food. We ask that those who decide to picnic remember to collect all of their rubbish after them especially as the Burren is a designated area of natural beauty and it is important to maintain that.
There are a number of free activities available on course during the Point to Point to entertain the younger members of the family which include: Bouncy castle Inflatable Obstacle Course Face Painting Dog Show Football Skills Zone Pony Rides
There is no ATM on course and we would advise anyone planning to attend to stop in one of the main towns en route to the racetrack.

As this meeting is a very important part of the local community, extra effort has been made by the committee to enhance the enjoyment of the occasion for all the family. The day promises to be a wonderful day of racing and entertainment for everyone.

ON THE ROPES for the Denis Murphy yard put up a very promising debut to finish a close second to the impressive Madiba Passion, in a race where he had little luck in running. Elsewhere, of those with previous form, Diol Ker looks the most interesting for the inform partnership of Pat Doyle and Gigginstown House Stud having gone close at Cragmore.

In what looks to be a wide open heat, KILDRUM sways the selection having put up a very promising debut effort at Boulta in December. The Brian McCarthy-trained gelding was a two-length second to Press Conference, who has subsequently bought by Jessica Harrington for 160,000 pounds at the sales. Alfie Corbitt and Arctic Road have both shown ability and are others that could get involved.

CARRIGMOORNA WOOD lost nothing in defeat on debut in Cragmore in February when finishing second and should definitely have come on from the run. The well-bred Drunken Tattoo was fourth first time out, where she ran well for a long time and that experience will stand to her here. Of the remainder, My First Symphony had every chance at Dromahane two weeks ago when falling at the last and cannot be overlooked.

The Sam Curling-trained LONGHOUSE MUSIC was a winner last time out and is stepping up to open company for the first time. A progressive type, the Gamut mare will have to overcome some more experienced types here but should have a race of this nature within her grasp. Sir Des Champs, a former Cheltenham Festival winner, is the class horse of the race but will have to roll back the years to feature here. Elsewhere, Final Gift, Rattle The Cage and B L Swagger all have claims for the top spot.

BLUE TEMPLAR has some decent track form and was third last time out over the banks at Punchestown in February. The J P McManus-owned son of Milan should have the measure of his rivals in this. Tippinawaynow was second in Moig South last weekend to what looks like a very nice prospect in Perpignan and Myoldman has been second on two previous runs and is worth noting.

A select field for the confined maiden where preference would have to go to the Noel Glynn-trained MABEYWHOKNOWSMABEY. The seemingly improving type was second last time and is the most experienced of the entries. The market may be the best indication as to what is expected of the others.
