Track Biography:

The Stonehall Harriers were formed in 1911 and have their kennels in Bansha Askeaton, Co. Limerick.
Point-to-points have been a large part of the hunts calendar for many years.

We now run 3 meetings a year Ballysteen & Moig South.

Many talented riders and horses have graduated from the Stonehall Harriers point-to-points Adrian Maguire rode his first winner on this track which we hope to see this continuing in the years to come.

This will be our second year in Cragmore on the Costello’s Family land and is a terrific track which is always very well received. 

Grade 1 winner Death Duty won his four-year-old maiden here in 2015 and provided Derek O’Connor with his 1000th winner between the flags, making him the first point-to-point rider to ever achieve this remarkable milestone.

Facilities

Our point to point offers spectator’s brilliant viewing facilities and race goers can get really close the action. 

We have parking facilities for any of disabled spectators, where they will get a great view of the track.

We have a road way into the point-to-point with an unlimited amount of parking spaces.  We also have a marquee on the day which racegoers can shelter in if the weather turns wet.

We have plenty of portaloos situated around the field also.

Our betting ring is located beside the parade ring.  Some of our bookmakers will also take bets on track racing and sometimes provide pictures of the track racing also.
 

Food

Our Ladies Committee doing the catering on the day where they serve freshly made sandwiches and cakes in our hospitality tent.

We also have a chip van on site for anyone looking for something a little more substantial!

For the children and those with a sweet tooth we have a sweet stand which sells a variety of confectionery.
 

Beverages

Teas and coffees are served all day in the hospitality tent.

Our hot food caterer and sweet stands also have a selection of refreshments on offer.

So there is something to suit all the family!

Is there a dress code for point-to-points?

We don?t have a dress code but do recommend suitable clothing and footwear. Perfect excuse the get the wellies out!

Absolutely, we encourage it. Just make sure they are kept on a leash at all times.

It?s a great location for a picnic from the boot especially if the weather is kind to us.

At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.

We don?t have an ATM on site but Askeaton is our nearest village which is located not too far from the track.

Amenities

Cragmore point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in the countryside and as an added bonus for parents all children U16 have free admission.

With Limerick city only 30 minutes from the track, there is an endless amount of attractions to keep you busy within the area. The picturesque town of Killarney is also only an hour and half drive from the point-to-point.

SHEILA TANIST had been sent off as the favourite for her debut in a four-year-old maiden at Ballinagarry in June. She was going well when coming down with three to jump on that occasion, and will likely be fancied to gain compensation here. Rosie And Millie was running a big race against some more experienced rivals in very testing conditions at Borris House when coming down with two to jump, whilst Rollercoaster and Goulane Jessie both went well last time out and are sure to be involved in the shake-up again.

BL Swagger will be out to try defend his success in this race 12 months ago, however it could prove to be a much hotter race this time round, and so preference is given to MORNING ASSEMBLY. The former Grade 1 winner could make a quick return to action as he looks to follow up a win at Kirkistown last Saturday in order to gain qualification for the Cheltenham Festival. Sydney Paget and Marinero were the first two home at Bellharbour earlier this month, and both are high class performers who will certainly be in the shake-up, as too will proven heavy ground performer, Rue Hill, who has won two of his three starts this season.

IUSETALUVHERONCE was beaten by just over a length in a heavy ground handicap hurdle at Listowel in September by a horse who went on to win a Premier Handicap at Leopardstown. With a hurdle mark of 99 to his name, this six-year-old should be well up to taking this. Newlands Cross made a pleasing return from a spell on the side lines when he finished third behind a decent sort at Nenagh in testing conditions, and he is open to improvement, whilst Thepremierbroker is another track recruit with snippets of form to his name.
