Track Biography:
East Down Foxhounds Point-to-Point course at Tyrella is situated at the foot of the picturesque Mourne Mountains made famous by the Percy French song.
With the 2018 Spring season, East Down will have been racing at Tyrella for fifty four years. Two meetings are held each Spring, in January and March.
Normally the first meeting of the Spring calendar in the Northern Region, Tyrella is a right handed undulating track where, given it’s close proximity to the sea and sandy soil is well drained and more often than not, produces good going.

How To Get There
By Road
From The South:
Take the M1 North from Dublin. In Newry take the A25 through Rathfriland. In Clough at T junction go right and immediately left to get to Tyrella.
From the West:
Leave the M1 at Lisburn (junction 6). Take the A1 turning off at Hillsborough. Follow the signs to Ballynahinch and then follow the signs for Newcastle. Go through Seaforde village and then Clough. At the end of Clough Main Street turn left, following the sign for Tyrell. The course is on the right after about four miles.
From the North:
Take the M2 to Belfast. Continue on to the M1. Leave the M1 at Lisburn (junction 6). Take the A1 turning off at Hillsborough. Follow the signs to Ballynahinch and then follow the signs for Newcastle. PALMERS HILL was well-fancied ahead of his debut at Oldtown when finishing third behind Flemnshill, the horse who set a record price for a point-to-pointer when being bought by Alan Potts at Cheltenham subsequently. A big run has to be expected from the Denis Murphy-trained Gold Well gelding following that promising debut. Warren Ewing has his stable in flying form and whichever of his two representatives, Burrows Edge and Presented Well, line-up here, a big run can be expected.

BANG BANG ROSIE was the subject of strong market support ahead of debut at Kirkistown at recently, and she appeared to be travelling well, when falling with three to jump. The consistent Little Millie has finished third in two very competitive mares races this season. With strong course form to her name, having finished behind Loveherandleaveher in January, she is a clear danger. Outta The West offered plenty of encouragement with her third-placed debut performance at Loughbrickland and she is a likely danger in this big field contest.

The well-bred SIZING ROME represents the in-form Jim Dreaper yard, and he could be a tough sort to oppose if living-up to his pedigree. What Another Year was running a big race on debut before falling at the final fence and he bring the strongest form into the race. Fellow Wexford raider U No Like finished second on debut at Belharbour, whilst Lovey Schtuff took a notable step forward at Lingstown in December when chasing home the impressive Minellafordollars in a big field four-year-old maiden. Admittedly, well-held by the winner on that occasion, it was promising nonetheless.
