Track Biography:
The Galway Blazers have a long history of holding a point-to-point dating back over a hundred years. The hunt dates from the beginning of the 19th century and has established itself as one of the famous Irish Hunts due to the goodwill and generosity of farmers and landowners throughout the county.
We run two meetings a year at Dartfield just outside Loughrea with the first one taking place in October and the second fixture being held in April. The course is situated at Dartfield Horse Museum and heritage centre which is set on 350 acres of parkland just forty minutes from Galway city.
Over the years, Loughrea point-to-point has produced many top national hunt stars such as Bewleys Berry, Boys Hurrah, Brindisi Breeze, Never Compromise and King Johns Castle.
How To Get There
By Road
From the Dublin take the M6 as far as the Ballinasloe West exit 15, and continue on the N6 towards Loughrea/Galway as far as Kilreekil village. Dartfield is half a mile beyond the village on the right hand side of the N6.
From Galway take the M6 and exit at Junction 16 for Loughrea. After approx. three miles on the access road you arrive at a roundabout, take the first exit. Continue past the Portumna Junction for less than a mile, and the entrance to Dartfield will be on your left.

Loughrea is situated 30 minutes from Galway airport and an hour and 50 minutes from Dublin airport.

The Colin Bowe-trained ALONE NO MORE brings recent race form into this contest having been in the process of running a big race on debut at Tinahely last Sunday when exiting at the final fence. He will have learned plenty from that opening effort, and providing this run does not come too soon for him, he looks the one to beat. Crazywork De Vassy finished in front of subsequent winner Lough Derg Farmer on his debut at Bartlemy last season, whilst Caviar Dallen was sent off as the favourite at Loughrea on his debut when not even making it to the first fence, and if stable confidence was high here he could be a big player.

Many of the leading contenders here are also doubly entered for Loughanmore on Saturday, with the Ted Walsh-trained ROSSVOSS the one notable exception. Last seen finishing fourth in the Ladies Derby at the Curragh, the 131- rated chaser appears to set the standard for this. Sizing Solution was an impressive winner at Toomebridge, and if he takes up this engagement he will be a big threat, as too will be the wide-margin Castletown winner Ourmanmassini who enters the race in good form.

The four-year-old maiden success of TALKISCHEAP at Lisbeg last season received a notable form boost last week when Manitowoc County, whom he defeated by 6 lengths, came out and won at Tinahely on Sunday. Whilst Talkischeap did disappoint at Tipperary subsequently, that was not a true reflection of his ability. Spring Pools, Golander and Lady Jameson all won their maidens last week at Tinahely and enter the race in good form, whilst the grey Ruairis Cloud is proven in this company and sure to be a challenger.

The locally trained Ballyfore Cross was very unlucky not to get off the mark last May as he parted company with his rider on two consecutive weekends at Lisbeg and Athlacca whilst holding strong claims. A clean round of jumping here would ensure that he is the one to beat. Loughmore Run is still quite unexposed and he was running well at Ballyragget before coming down at the last in March, whilst Heez All Talk, Flabello and Delkantra all have placed form to their names, and can once again get involved in the place battle.
