Track Biography:

Point-to-Point racing has a long and rich history at the scenic location of Fairwood Park, Tinahely, since 1989. Fairwood Park also plays host to the Tinahely Agricultural Show each summer which is one of Ireland's longest running agricultural show.

Jamie Codd, who is the second winning-most point-to-point rider in the history of the sport became the first modern day rider to ride all six winners on the one card at Tinahely in October 2011.

Previous track winners to have won at Tinahely include former Grade One winner Fundamentalist and Cheltenham Gold Cup runner-up On His Own.

Tinahely is situated in the heart of the Wicklow countryside, the garden of Ireland. Located just an hour and half from the bustle of Dublin city, Tinahely is a pretty village in south west Wicklow that offers a variety of walking opportunities and a gateway to the beautiful Irish landscape.

How To Get There

By Road

From Dublin – Take the M50 southbound and turn onto the M11. At Junction 16, take the R772 to Rathnew. Continue on the R752/753 where the track will be sign posted.

From Waterford – Take the N9 until junction 5 where you need to take the N80 exit for Carlow/Rosslare.

By Air

Tinahely point-to-point is located an hour and forty minutes from Dublin airport.

Colin McKeever and Wilson Dennison took the opening race of the season at Toomebridge last Saturday, and with the stable clearly in good form, their representatives here, Jerrysback and SCOTTSHILL are sure to be of interest. The latter was still in contention when falling at the last in a race won by Getabird who was subsequently sold for a six-figure price. Manitowoc County is a live alternative having chased home Talkischeap in a small field contest at Lisbeg last season. Graystown brings the most experience to the race, whilst Cri Cu Coeur is a well-related French bred worthy of consideration ahead of his debut.

STREETS OF MILAN, a half-brother to the one-time leading British Hunter Chaser That?s Rhythm, finished a very encouraging second on his debut at Inchydoney when finding only the more experienced The Pipers Cottage too strong, and he sets the standard here. Bellamy was heavily supported ahead of his debut at Grennan last November before getting no further than the first. He could be of interest again if that market support is repeated. Colin Bowe won a similar race last Sunday with a debutant, and his newcomers Lacken Bridge and Monsum Storm deserve respect, whilst Monbeg Crackerjack was third last Sunday and has recent race fitness on his side.

NEVADA ROSE was unable to really land a serious blow under rules, however prior to her spell inside the rails she was less than 3 lengths behind Pumped Up Kicks who has since won four races on the track in a winners of three contest. This will likely be an easier contest to that which should aid her to get competitive again. Touchy has course form to her name having won her maiden around here in January, whilst Sixteen Again was a winner at Armagh last season and is a danger.

Rated 153 under rules having been last seen finishing third in a Grade 1, he is sure to be the star attraction if taking up this engagement. Need To Know won this race in 2014 and was only touched off by a head in last years renewal, so a strong showing can be expected from him, whilst leading pointing mare Maple Mons is looking for her fourth success on the bounce.

Local runner Shanklys Dawn finished fourth in a Handicap Hurdle at Kilbeggan during the Summer and could prove to be the danger on her first start between the flags. GOLANDER was unable to land a blow over hurdles during the Summer, however prior to that, he had ended last season with a career best, as he was only narrowly touched off by Doitforjoe at Ballingarry. That horse has since franked the form by running out the wide-margin winner of maiden hurdle at Southwell. A return to that form should see Golander as the one to beat. Rocking Dj was not at his best last Sunday when pulling-up, however drier conditions should produce an improved showing from him, whilst the very lightly raced Wexford Bridge has his first start for new connections having finished second on the track in the past.
