Track Biography:

The Mid-Antrim Hunt was formally set up in the 1870’s as a harrier pack, although it was in existence for at least a hundred years before that. It was believed to have had its first official meeting in The Thatch Pub in Broughshane in 1875.

The Mid Antrim point-to-point Course is just outside Moneyglass very close to Toomebridge. Toome or Toomebridge (from Irish: Tuaim, meaning "tumulus"), is a small village and townland on the northwest corner of Lough Neagh in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Moneyglass was at one time home to Malachy McCourt and his family who was the father of Frank McCourt, author of Angela's Ashes, a winner of The Pulitzer Prize, the NBCC Award, The LA Times Award and the Royal Society of Literature Award.
 
Champion National Hunt jockey and 2010 BBC Sports Personality of the Year winner, Tony McCoy, who received an OBE in 2010, was born in Moneyglass.

Another sports star reared in Moneyglass was world famous Rugby Union player Willie John McBride who capped for Ireland on 63 occasions which includes 12 times as Captain.

How To Get There

By Road:

From Belfast, take the M2 towards Antrim. Toomebridge is 45 minutes from Belfast city.

From Dublin, take the M1 towards Belfast. From Belfast take the M2.

By Air

Toomebridge is located two hours and 15 minutes from Dublin airport and 30 minutes from Belfast airport.

His stable companion Rollininthedeep has claims also on his best form while Bally Rone should be ideal for this course and could be a big danger from the remainder. King Helissio ran a cracker on his debut at Maralin and a reproduction of that would see him very hard to beat also.

Having run under rules as recently as August she is sure to be fit which is a definite positive. Sansa Stark on the other end of the scale is an improving sort who could be on the right direction this season to win a maiden.

SIMARTHUR looked very decent winning on very similar ground at Loughanmore before running below par last time. This half brother to Simonsig is given another chance to shine and will take an awful lot of beating if returning to his maiden winning form. Court Appeal could be the main danger following his maiden win at this track, he narrowly went down to a more experienced horse on his winners debut. Bally Beaufort looks an exciting sort who has very little experience but won well at Lisronagh and gets the four year old allowance which is a positive at this time of year.

Bumbee show promise in an Autumn maiden last season and has not run since but on his best would warrant respect. Mill bay will be making his points debut following a a few promising track runs and could be the danger.
