Track Biography:
Most commonly know now as the home of Irish Jump Racing Punchestowns history begins with Kildare Hunt Club.
One of the oldest in the country, the history of the Kildare Hunt Club goes back as far as the 18th century with the first Master being Squire Connolly of Castletown.
The Hunt Club would host races in various locations around the county but in the 1840’s during the master ship of John La Touche the members of Kildare Hunt Club decided to buy the lands at Punchestown.
Those lands are still held by the trustees of Kildare Hunt Club and continue to be used as the location for the point-to-point.

How To Get There
How To Get There
By Road
Take the N7 out of Dublin for Approx 20 miles and take the Naas exit. Go into Naas and turn left towards Punchestown on the R410 and then at a cross roads motorists take a right turn.
By Air
Our point-to-point is located fifty minutes from Dublin airport.

As our point-to-point is located at Punchestown race course, we are very lucky to have the use of some of the permanent fixtures at the race course.
This means if you are travelling with small children we are able to provide changing facilities for babies and toddlers.
If the weather is a little unkind on the day, race goers are able to use the stands along the home straight in order to watch the action without getting wet.
In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

There will be two caterers on site on Sunday.
One of our caterers will be offering a variety of hot refreshments and they will also be serving delicious toasted sandwiches.
There will also be a chip van on site serving a range of burgers and chips for those looking for something a little more substantial.

Race goers can purchase teas, coffees and soft drinks from our outside catering outlet.
No, we do not have an official dress code we just advise our race goers to wear warm coats, caps and good footwear.
Dogs are very welcome, but need to be kept on a lead at all times.
Yes, we welcome visitors to bring their own picnics or refreshments but why not treat yourself to a tasty hot lunch from our outside caterers from your race winnings.
At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment.
No we do not provide an ATM so we recommend that you make a stop in the nearby town of Naas on your way to the races.

Set amongst the beautiful Kildare countryside, our race track is situated at the historic Punchestown race course.
On the day we run a competition for the most appropriately dressed family at the point-to-point.
Our point-to-point is located thirty minutes away from Dublin city which makes it the ideal venue to visit if you are on a city break in the capital.
There will also be a racecard draw to win tickets for the Punchestown Festival Family Day.

It has paid to follow runners from the Peter Maher and Shark Hanlon stables in recent renewals of this race with the pair having won each of the last five renewals, but it could be Gordon Elliott who holds the key to it. HAPPY VICTORY made the perfect start to his career in the pointing fields when winning what was a very strongly run maiden at Tinahely and there would look to be more to come from him. Lesssaidthebetter skipped the field to run out a wide-margin winner at Ballinaboola last week, but his rivals here will surely be wise to those tactics now, whilst Jet Fighter finished second in both of his outings last year for Brian Ellison and has now changed stables.

It is hard to look beyond the former Grade 1 winners Brain Power, The Storyteller, Hardline and Road To Respect in what looks a hot heat, with BRAIN POWER going in search of his fifth success of the season having already had the measure of Hardline on a couple of occasions this term. The Storyteller won three times in the autumn before failing to fire at Down Royal, whilst Road To Respect has not been seen since he finished third in the 2019 Savills Chase off a mark of 169 and is an interesting recruit.

WEIR LANE had shown promise on her debut when coming down at the last in Tattersalls before Christmas, and she ran another solid race at Ballycrystal recently. That experience will stand to her in what looks to be a winnable race. Iriskana bumped into the smart looking Sainte Baol on her debut and should take a step forward alongside Barrack Village. The newcomers are also worth a look given the open nature of the race on paper.

BUTCHER BERRY exited with a circuit to race on his return from a 12-month absence at Tyrella recently but prior to that he had been holding every chance when unseating at the final fence at that same venue. Save Face has been running in bumpers since joining Ciaran Murphy, but his last run for Harry Whittington did see him finished a close second in a maiden hurdle which would give him claims for this alongside the luckless Ballylinch.
