Track Biography:

The East Galway Foxhounds dates back from as far back as 1791. 

In 2014 a brand new state of the art kennell complex was developed and financed by joint-master Joe Cavanagh and handed over to the hunt recently.

The East Galway Hunt have a long association with point-to-pointing and this will be their first year at Stowlin with the kind permission of Billy Treacy.

How To Get There

By Road

From Dublin - From the M50 travel on M4 and M6 towards Galway.  Take Exit 15 from the M6 onto the R355. Travel on the R355 to your destination. There will be signs posted to track.

From Galway - From Galway Ctiy take the M6 towards Dublin/Limerick. At junction 16, take the N65 exit to Portumna/Loghrea. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the N65. Stay on the N65 and there will be signs posted to the track.

We have free parking for spectators and sections that can be used to facilitate disabled parking with clear views  of the track.

In our bookmakers ring you can view and bet on any off-course races on the day in both England and Ireland.

We also have plenty of shelter in our catering marquee should the odd spell occur.

Our outside food caterers are located beside the parade ring and bookies and they sell an array of hot food options such as burgers, chips, sausages and chicken goujons.

Also if you would like a treat during your days racing there will also be a cake stand, selling lots of delicious treats!

All patrons are welcome to pack a picnic style lunch to enjoy during the races.

Race goers can purchase teas, coffees and soft drinks from our outside catering outlet.

We also will have a bar at the track and there will be live music throughout the day.

No, there is no official dress code but we advise race goers to stay warm and dry and dress according to the weather.
Yes, we allow dogs but would ask that they are kept on their leads at all times whilst at the track.
Yes, of course we welcome picnics for all the family to enjoy.
At our point-to-point, we are lucky to have wide open spaces for children to play in a safe environment. We will also have bouncing castles on the day to keep our younger race goers entertained.
No, we do not provide an ATM on track. The nearest ATM is at Portumna and Ballinasloe which you pass coming to the track.

East Galway Hunt point-to-point is the perfect day out for the family in the countryside.

Race goers have the opportunity to get a close up of the action when the runners are being saddled and paraded in the parade ring before their race.
