Track Biography:

Bartlemy Point-to-Point races are run under the auspices of the United Hunt Club.

There is a long & rich tradition of point-to-points in Bartlemy and we are particularly excited to be celebrating our 80th Anniversary at our upcoming meeting on 13th May 2018. Our course in Hightown enjoys excellent viewing for the race goers overlooking our right-handed track.

Our committee is dedicated to offering the best conditions possible for both horses and race-goers. As with all point-to-points, Bartlemy has been the starting point for many young horses careers that have gone on to be successful both here in Ireland and in the UK.  Surely one of the most exciting features of point-to-point racing is to know that you could be looking at a future Cheltenham Festival or Grand National winner!

A day at Bartlemy point-to-points offers an ideal family day out. The situation of the track allows for easy parking and great views for everyone who attends.

As our meeting runs in the middle of May each year we are often fortunate to have the sun shining on us, making it ideal for families to bring a picnic and enjoy a day at the races.

Of course the highlight of the day are the six competitive races. Point-to-points are unique in that the spectators can get really close to the action, seeing the horses being unloaded from their boxes, being tacked up, in the parade ring and on the track.

There are no private boxes or premier enclosures everyone has equal access. There aren’t many more thrilling sights than seeing 15 thoroughbred horses streaming over a fence!

We have plenty to keep younger race goers entertained and have face painters and lots of events on the day to keep things interesting for children; our colouring competition is very popular among those attending local schools in the area.
